MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, has drawn the ire of netizens for referring to President Joe Biden as "sleepy," despite the 77-year-old himself nodding off several times during his hush money criminal trial in New York.

On Wednesday morning, Trump took to his proprietary social networking platform, Truth Social, and posted, "Where's SLEEPY JOE? He's SLEEPING, that's where!!!"

Why did Trump resort to attacking President Biden over alleged sleepiness?

According to OK Magazine, during the presidential campaign, one of Trump's campaign team's main talking points involved President Joe Biden's decision to reduce the number of campaign stops and the debate schedule, while also making jokes about the age of the 81-year-old incumbent POTUS.

However, the latest line of attack from the MAGA strongman might be a response to stories circulating about him falling asleep inside the courtroom during his ongoing criminal trial.

Numerous eyewitnesses including Frank G Runyeon, Susanne Craig, and Maggie Haberman, have all stated that they saw the 2024 presumptive GOP nominee seemingly fall asleep during the jury selection process in April.

"Trump’s head slowly dropped, his eyes closed. It jerked back upward. He adjusts himself," Runyeon wrote on X. "Then, his head droops again. He straightens up, leaning back. His head [droops] for a third time, and he shakes his shoulders. Eyes closed still. His head drops. Finally, he pops his eyes open."

Ever-ardent followers of the ex-president have theorized that Trump is "pretending" to sleep in court as a form of protest against the trial.

"He thinks it’s bulls**t, it’s boring, it’s not worth his time. It’s a ruse," one source claimed to a news outlet. "Everything he does is calculated. He’s never fallen asleep. It’s not a thing he does. He goes to several meetings a day."

Internet fires back at Donald Trump for calling Joe Biden 'sleepy'

One X user remarked, "Says the guy that can’t even stay awake in court."

Another user wrote, "Guy who is literally seen daily in court unable to stay awake and napping taking a very weak shot at his political rival who is busy getting things done daily. Sounds about right."

Another user said, "Every accusation is a confession."

One user quipped, "Coming from sleepy Don the con."

Another X user remarked, "Surely not sleeping in court like Donald!"

Finally, this user tweeted, "Sleeping in his bed. Not in court facing felony counts."
