NEWARK, NEW JERSEY: New Jersey Senator Cory Booker is officially engaged.

The 56-year-old lawmaker revealed on Instagram that he proposed to his longtime girlfriend Alexis Lewis, sharing heartfelt words and a series of photos capturing the tropical moment.

“Alexis is one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life,” Booker wrote on Sept. 2. “She has transformed me, helping me ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love.”

In the images, Booker is seen wearing a navy shirt and beige pants as he kneels on one knee before Lewis, who wore a black top paired with a polka-dot skirt. The couple, both draped in leis, looked radiant as they celebrated the proposal.

Booker, who has often kept his private life away from the spotlight, said he is “savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life” with his fiancee.

“We are excited for this journey ahead, having so much fun, and feeling deeply grateful for the love, support, and energy so many of you have shared with us,” he continued. “We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such a beautiful community lifting us in love and commitment.”

The engagement marks a new chapter for Booker, who previously dated actress Rosario Dawson between 2019 and 2022.

In June, Booker hinted at the seriousness of his relationship during an interview on Andy Cohen Live, revealing that he and Lewis had already moved in together. “It's a wonderful thing,” he said at the time. “She’s a really special, extraordinary person.”
