WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene faced a stern reprimand from chairperson Rep Brad Wenstrup during a House Oversight and Accountability Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic hearing.

Rep Greene refused to recognize Anthony Fauci, the former Chief Medical Advisor to the POTUS, as a doctor while questioning him, which led to a heated exchange. Fauci testified before the GOP-led committee for the first time since his retirement on Monday, June 3.

Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene says Dr Anthony Fauci should be jailed and his license revoked

During her questioning, Rep Greene repeatedly referred to Fauci as “Mr Fauci” instead of “Dr Fauci.”

She challenged his decisions during the pandemic, particularly on mask mandates for children and social distancing guidelines.

“Do you think that’s appropriate? Do the American people deserve to be abused like that, Mr Fauci, because you’re not ‘Dr,’ you’re ‘Mr Fauci’ in my few minutes,” refusing to listen to his answers, The Hill reported.

Rep Jamie Raskin objected, questioning the rules of decorum. “Just in terms of the rules of decorum, are we allowed to deny that a doctor is a doctor just because we don’t want him to be a doctor?” he asked.

Rep Greene defended her stance, arguing that Fauci did not deserve his medical license.

“Yes, because in my time, that man does not deserve to have a license. As a matter of fact, it should be revoked, and he belongs in jail,” she responded.

Committee Chair Brad Wenstrup reprimands Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene's refusal to acknowledge Antony Fauci's title

At this point, Wenstrup intervened, "The gentlelady will suspend." loudly instructing Rep Greene to recognize Fauci as a doctor.

Rep Robert Garcia (D-Calif) also criticized her refusal to address Fauci with the appropriate title, calling it “unacceptable” and a personal attack on Fauci’s character.

“It’s completely unacceptable to deny Dr Fauci, who’s here, a respected member of the medical community, his title,” Rep Garcia said.

Wenstrup then reinforced this, saying, “I have instructed her to address him as a doctor.” Despite the admonition, Rep Greene remained defiant, insisting Fauci was “not respected” and doubling down on her refusal to call him a doctor.

Wenstrup then called for members to “afford all other members the respect they are entitled.”

In her final remarks, Rep Greene called for a criminal referral against Fauci, accusing him of “crimes against humanity.” She told him, “You belong in prison, Dr Fauci,” and concluded without receiving answers.

Internet reaction to Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene refusing to call Antony Fauci a doctor

Internet reactions to Greene's refusal to call Fauci a doctor were swift and varied.

One user on X wrote, “Yes he is respected! He saved lives and He has an MD which makes him a doctor!”

"I really hope that Georgia is as embarrassed as I am," wrote a second user. Another remarked, “He shouldn’t refer to her as a Congresswoman then.”

Others were more sarcastic, with one user commenting, “Then they should address her as Dog the Bounty Hunter.”

Some supported Rep Greene’s stance, saying, “She cooked him,” while others defended Fauci, with one user writing, “Dr. Fauci is so far above her he doesn’t need her to call him Dr. he knows who he is,” and another adding, “She truly is a horrible person.”

"MTG’s contempt for Dr. Fauci is sickening. How many drug/medical patents does she hold? How many hundreds of thousands of lives has she saved? What gives her the right, someone who done nothing for society, to refer to him as Mr. and intonate he is not a Doctor," lashed one more.
