WASHINGTON, DC: UFC CEO Dana White described the tense moments he experienced inside the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner after a shooting incident triggered a rapid evacuation on Saturday, April 25. The sudden disruption sent shockwaves through a venue packed with journalists, political figures, and guests from across the political spectrum.
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were unharmed and later evacuated along with senior administration officials. Law enforcement personnel engaged the suspect outside the main venue before the situation was brought under control.

White, who was present at the dinner, recounted how quickly the atmosphere shifted once the incident began unfolding. He said the room turned chaotic within moments as security forces moved in and guests were instructed to get down.
“It started getting noisy. Tables getting flipped over, guys running in with guns, and they were screaming get down,” White said, describing the scene as it escalated inside the venue.
He added that he did not immediately take cover. “I didn’t get down. It was… a pretty crazy unique experience,” he said, reflecting on how rapidly events developed around him.
White also noted his seating position placed him close to the front of the room, near where the president had been seated. He described seeing armed personnel entering the area and scanning for potential threats as confusion spread among attendees.
“Nobody got tackled, but guys came in looking for shooters. They came toward our table. I thought the shooter was over by us or something, but no,” he said, adding that he did not personally witness the attacker.

In the aftermath, officials confirmed that a Secret Service agent was injured during the confrontation but was protected by a bulletproof vest and later stabilized at a hospital. Authorities said the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of California, was armed with multiple weapons before being subdued.
Police officials described the suspect as acting alone and said he may have been staying at the Washington Hilton hotel linked to the event. Investigators also secured a hotel room connected to him as part of the ongoing probe.
Secret Service Director Sean Curran praised the coordinated response, calling it an example of the agency’s layered security working as intended. He also acknowledged the assistance of partner law enforcement agencies.
President Trump later addressed the incident publicly, initially describing confusion during the chaos before confirming that he had mistaken the sound of gunfire for a minor disturbance. He also urged unity and calm in the aftermath, calling for peaceful political discourse despite the alarming situation.
