Hunter Biden says he’s ‘48 percent gay’ during candid podcast exchange
WASHINGTON, DC: Hunter Biden joked about being “48.6 percent gay” during a candid podcast interview, where he repeatedly played along with questions about his sexuality.
The former first son, 56, appeared on the August 16 episode of the ‘Luke Beasley Show’, where the conversation turned to his personal life and sexuality.
Hunter, who has been married to Melissa Cohen since 2019, was directly asked whether he was gay. “Only a little bit,” Hunter replied.

The answer quickly turned into a back-and-forth, with host Luke Beasley asking whether Hunter was more or less than 50 percent gay. He then gave a surprisingly specific answer: “48.6 percent.”
Hunter Biden jokes about his ideal type
Beasley continued the conversation by asking Hunter Biden whether he would be his type if he were gay.
“A little bit more masculine would be my type, if I was gay,” Hunter said.
The podcast host then showed Hunter an AI-generated image of the two men in a close embrace. In the picture, Hunter's left hand appeared to be resting on Beasley’s waist.
“If I’m not your type, then why did you embrace me like this? Go ahead, take a look,” Beasley said while handing him the image. Hunter appeared to play along with the joke.
“Oh Jesus Christ, I don’t know. I just, it all is coming back to me,” he said.
He then connected the joke to his past struggles with substance abuse, adding, “I was in a stupor at that point. I think that was pre-2019 when I got sober.”
Hunter Biden updates his ‘gay’ percentage
The conversation did not end there. Later in the nearly 90-minute episode, Hunter Biden returned to what he called “the gay question” and appeared to reconsider his earlier answer.
“Maybe I take back 48.5” percent, he said. He then lowered the number further.
“More like 47 [percent] after that conversation. My gaydom went down a percentage point,” Hunter Biden joked. But by the end of the interview, Biden had once again changed his answer.
“I just wanted to let you know that I am back up to 48.5 percent gay,” he said.
Hunter Biden’s relationship and family life
Hunter Biden married Melissa Cohen in 2019, just six days after the two met.
He was previously married to Kathleen Buhle, his longtime wife, with whom he shares three daughters. Hunter and Buhle ended their marriage in 2017.
