WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden took jabs at former President Donald Trump while visiting Wisconsin on Wednesday, May 8, to promote a new multibillion-dollar Microsoft investment at the same location where a Trump administration project failed, as per ABC News

In Sturtevant, Wisconsin, he made fun of Trump for praising the big Racine industrial project and calling it the 'eighth wonder of the world' while also announcing the opening of a new Microsoft plant on the same property, stated Daily Mail.

While earning laughs from a crowd of supporters, Biden asked, "He and his administration promised a $10 billion investment by Foxconn and build new manufacturing complex to create 13,000 new jobs. In fact, he came here with your Senator Ron Johnson literally holding a golden shovel, promising to build the eighth wonder of the world. Are you kidding me?"

He added, "Look what happened. They dug a hole with those golden shovels – and then they fell into it. Look, they didn't shovel other dirt – they did shovel some dirt. 100 homes were bulldozed. They wasted hundreds of millions of dollars of your state and local tax dollars to promise a project that never happened. Foxconn turned out to be just that a con."

As part of his 'America First' agenda, Trump had announced the plan with much fanfare in 2017. However, a few years later, the Taiwanese corporation dramatically pulled back from the project, blaming 'market fluctuations'.

According to the most recent RealClearPolitics average, Trump leads Biden by 0.5 percentage points in the battleground state—a state that Biden won in 2020 but Trump won in 2016.

Similar to battleground states like Michigan and Pennsylvania, Biden is facing challenges in Wisconsin, including dwindling support from young voters, uncertainty about retaining the backing of Black voters he garnered in 2020, and disagreements over Israel's Gaza War.

As his campaign, which is expanding personnel and offices, announced a fresh $14 million ad purchase, he has scheduled a meeting with volunteers.

Notably, Microsoft is now offering to manage a data center there, creating 2,300 union construction jobs in addition to a comparable number of permanent positions.
