LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the latest installment of Washington's political theater, the GOP made another farcical attempt to draw comparisons between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

This time, they summoned special counsel Robert Hur to testify regarding Biden's management of classified documents.

Although Hur's report discovered no evidence of criminal misconduct by Biden, it did raise concerns about the President's cognitive capabilities, particularly his memory.

During his testimony, Hur delivered a peculiar assessment of Biden, stating that he presents as a "sympathetic well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory."

Colbert's satirical take unveils the absurdity of GOP's agenda

Stephen Colbert, the host of 'The Late Show,' promptly delved into the absurdity of Hur's remarks. Employing his characteristic satirical approach, Colbert likened Hur's statements to a doctor diagnosing a patient's health while unnecessarily commenting on their appearance.

Colbert quipped, "It'd be like your doctor saying, 'Well, we ran some tests, Mr Johnson and your cholesterol looks very good, but I am worried about how ugly you are. I'm going to write you a prescription for a bag over your head, with unlimited refills.'"

The GOP's objective was evident: to utilize Hur's report to tarnish Biden's reputation prior to the presidential election.

However, Colbert highlighted the irony in their endeavors, noting Trump's well-known memory lapses and Biden's consistent attentiveness to his political adversaries and surroundings.

Colbert exposes Hur's contradictions and pokes fun at GOP's political theater

Colbert humorously recounted the dramatic lead-up to Hur's testimony before the Judiciary Committee, including the pointed questioning from Republican lawmakers.

He captured the absurdity of their inquiries, which included hypothetical scenarios aimed at eliciting damning statements about Biden's memory.

Colbert's commentary reached its peak when he exposed Hur's own contradictory actions. Despite his summary painting Biden as forgetful, Hur's complete transcripts of interviews with the President depicted a different narrative. Colbert joyfully relayed Hur's compliment to Biden, highlighting his "photographic understanding and recall."

"At this point, I'm worried about Hur's cognitive ability," Colbert quipped, poking fun at the inconsistency between Hur's summary and his own words during the interviews.

Colbert concluded his segment with a wry remark, questioning whether anyone had tested Hur's ability to identify a "whale" amid the political spectacle.

Public outcry highlights concerns over Hur's credibility and media bias

Social media users' comments mirror a growing sense of frustration and skepticism regarding Hur's testimony and the media's depiction of Biden.

One user wrote, "Thank you for telling America about Hur lying about Biden’s memory. Our news agencies don’t seem to think it’s important. They only like to portray Biden as old and ineffective. Deal with it, corporate-owned news agencies, Biden has an amazing memory."

Another added, "Hur knowingly engaged in disseminating misinformation."

One user replied, "Hur wasn't so much a special counsel, as he was a special agent working for MAGA!"

Another commented, "Hurr gratuitously, knowingly, and provably lied in his report - and there's no legal consequence for that?!?"

One user wrote, 'Why does WHALE never get old."
