DES MOINES, IOWA: As the Iowa caucuses kick off the 2024 Republican presidential primary on Monday, January 15, an unlikely alliance hopes to shake up the field - internet celebrity Jake Paul has joined the campaign of Vivek Ramaswamy for a final youth voter push across Iowa universities.

Still polling under 10 percent just days before voting begins, Ramaswamy's campaign believes Paul's Gen Z star power can drive turnout among overlooked young voters and provide a surprise boost against the odds, per TMZ.

Vivek Ramaswamy seeks Jake Paul's partnership to revitalize GOP nomination bid

Ramaswamy seeks Paul's partnership to revitalize his GOP nomination bid, embarking on a crucial phase of the campaign trail, aligning efforts as the Iowa primary looms. They aim to traverse the state together, rallying Gen Z voters for the impending primaries, leveraging Paul's influential presence among younger demographics.

Ramaswamy's campaign sees 26-year-old Paul, who has over 20 million YouTube subscribers, as having significant star power and ability to energize the youth vote. “We’re very excited Jake's joining on the campaign trail and we’re hoping it can really drive out younger people,” said Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Ramaswamy campaign.

The duo will travel across Iowa, making stops at the state's four biggest universities as part of the 'Commit to Caucus Rally'. The collaboration stems from Ramaswamy's recent interaction with Paul during his fight against Andre August in Florida, where Paul facilitated ringside seats for Ramaswamy.

With polls indicating a deficiency in Ramaswamy's traction among likely Iowa GOP caucus voters, his campaign remains resolute in tapping into unaccounted voter segments, banking on Paul's knack for crowd engagement, be it through social media or his boxing endeavors, to translate the momentum into support for Ramaswamy at the polls.

Vivek Ramaswamy's alliance with Jake Paul met with backlash across social media

The announcement that Paul would be stumping for Ramaswamy was met with significant backlash on social media. Critics characterized the alliance as two 'unlikable' attention-seekers with fringe views teaming up in a losing effort.

One Facebook user quipped, "Two jokes are better than one." Meanwhile, another individual expressed a bleak outlook, stating, "Vivek doesn’t have a snowball chance in hell, and he’s going to bring a douche canoe on the campaign trail with him."

Highlighting concerns about relatability, a third user remarked, "Two very unlikable guys. Both super rich. Both conspiracy believers. I’m not sure they’re going to connect with the people of Iowa. Plus Vivek is a devout Hindu. For better or worse, that might be hard for many Christian voters." Echoing disbelief, another person added, "The delusion is real!"

The online discourse didn't hold back, with a fifth user adding, "One coocoo selling another," while a sixth user succinctly criticized the situation, labeling it as "Idiocracy."
