Democrats’ favorable ratings plummet to record low in national polls, Internet says ‘let it keep falling’

WASHINGTON, DC: The favorable ratings of the Democratic Party have dropped down to an all-time low according to two national polls conducted earlier this month and released on Sunday, March 16, reported Fox News.
The polls were conducted by CNN/SSRS and NBC News between March 6-9 and March 7-11, respectively. The result suggests the Democrats are yet to come out of the political wilderness that they found themselves in when they lost the White House and the Senate to the Republicans in November 2024. Currently, the GOP also holds the majority in the House of Representatives.
NEW: Americans' favorability of the Democratic Party has fallen to the lowest level ever recorded in CNN's polling history.

Favorable ratings of Democrats as of March 2025
The CNN poll showed only 29% of survey participants held a favorable view of the Democratic Party, while 54% found them unfavorable.
It demonstrated a drop of four points since early January before President Donald Trump was sworn in for his second term and of 20 points from January 2021, ahead of his predecessor Joe Biden's presidency.

The rating is reportedly the lowest in the polling history of the network, which goes back more than three decades.
Among the Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents who participated in the survey, 63% agreed with holding a positive view of the party. The figure is down from 72% in January this year and 81% in 2021.
The national poll conducted by NBC News painted a similar picture, with 27% of registered voters claiming to have a positive view of the Democratic Party. Similar to CNN, it is also the lowest recorded rating of the party by NBC News polling, which dates back to 1990.
However, the GOP did not perform remarkably well in the polls as well. The CNN poll stated that the favorable ratings for the GOP stood at 36%, unchanged from January.
But the unfavorable view was up by 4% and stood at 48% in March. As per the NBC News poll, the favorable and unfavorable ratings of the GOP stood at 39% and 49%, respectively.
Both surveys further indicated that a majority of Democratic voters wanted party leaders to actively oppose Republicans rather than find common ground. As per the CNN survey, the margin was 57%-42%, while in the NBC News survey, it was two to one.

The NBC poll further asked participants to name the leaders who they believed best reflected "the core values" of the party. In the case of Democrats, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez topped the list with 10% support, followed by former vice president Kamala Harris, 9%, and Senator Bernie Sanders, 8%.

Netizens reacting to the report mocked the Democratic Party over the low favorable ratings.
"No surprise there, the party does not represent Americans anymore," wrote a user.
"The numerous radicals in the Democratic Party have worked hard for those low ratings," jibed another.
