Democrats mock Trump’s ‘peak performance’ claim with unflattering photo after health query
WASHINGTON, DC: Democrats took aim at President Donald Trump’s health and fitness on Wednesday, November 5, after his press secretary Karoline Leavitt dodged a question about his recent MRI.
The party’s official X account posted an unflattering image of Trump dressed in golf attire, sarcastically captioning it, “This is the ideal male body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like."

Karoline Leavitt dodges questions on Trump’s MRI scan
During a White House press briefing, CNN’s Kristen Holmes asked Karoline Leavitt why the president had undergone an MRI during his last hospital check-up. Leavitt sidestepped the question, responding, “I would have to investigate further,” but added, “As you all know, because you are all witness to it every single day, the president is in optimal physical health.”

The post came shortly after Leavitt described Trump as being in “optimal physical health,” prompting Democrats to mock the claim by recycling a photo that has become their go-to image for trolling the president online.
The exchange quickly gained traction on social media, with Democrats amplifying their response using the viral “peak performance” meme.
Democrats use Trump’s golf photo to troll health claims
The image chosen by the Democratic Party was taken in December 2024 at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida. It shows the president in a loose white polo shirt, his pants pulled unusually high, and his “MAGA hat” hair flattened, without his usual orange-toned makeup.
The same image has been repeatedly used by Democrats to poke fun at Trump’s physique. In September, they reposted the photo alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s comments about military fitness: “It is tiring to look out and see fat troops… it is a bad look.” The Democrats captioned it, “That’s interesting.”
Trump confirms MRI during recent hospital visit
Trump confirmed in October that he underwent an MRI as part of a “follow-up evaluation” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, though he did not specify the reason for the test.
“We had an MRI, MRI and the machine, you know, the whole thing, and it was perfect,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One en route from Palm Beach to Washington, DC.
According to the White House, the MRI was part of his “ongoing health maintenance plan.”
Trump’s April health assessment revealed that his weight had dropped to 224 pounds, down 20 pounds from his 2020 check-up, when he was bordering on obesity.
The White House also attributed bruising on his hands to “rigorous on-the-job handshaking” and confirmed that the president suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a condition common among older adults in which leg veins struggle to pump blood back to the heart, causing ankle swelling.
