WASHINGTON, DC: The Democrats were brutally trolled for their social media post on the first anniversary of the infamous Joe Biden and Donald Trump's presidential debate.

The presidential debate was reportedly the turning point in the 2024 election, which led to the withdrawal of then-President Joe Biden from the race and was replaced by former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Democrats' post resurfaces on first anniversary of presidential debate

On June 27, 2024, the Democrats on X posted a photo of a smiling Joe Biden and declared him the winner of the presidential debate with now-President Donald Trump.

The caption of the post read, "The winner of tonight’s debate."

Many people believed that this led directly to the end of his re-election bid and the eventual win for Trump and his administration, according to Mediaite.

The social media post did not age well for the Democrats, as Biden was almost universally called the loser of the debate by several media houses, including MSNBC.

Biden's debate performance prompted a groundswell of questions about his mental acuity, questions that are still being asked today, USA Today reported.

In July 2024, Biden announced he was ending his re-election campaign and endorsed Kamala Harris as his replacement.

Harris was swiftly backed by the Democrats, but it wasn't enough to defeat Trump in the November 2024 election.

During the debate, Biden had a "freeze moment" when he was discussing healthcare, the economy, and the high debt levels under Trump's administration, per the outlet.

The former POTUS mentioned increasing taxes on billionaires, but his response became briefly meandering, as he concluded with "if we finally beat Medicare" after a pause.

Internet trolls Democrats for post on first anniversary of presidential debate

Several internet users trolled Democrats by sharing the Democrats' post from 2024, where they declared Joe Biden the winner of the debate against Donald Trump.

The Senate Republicans' page wrote on X, "One year ago today… this aged well," while one added, "In retrospect, I think he lost."

A person also stated, "This post aged about as well as Joe Biden has," whereas one mentioned, "The single greatest failure of Democratic politics in my lifetime."

A user also wrote, "Perfect example of how unseriously the Democratic Party took the election and the threat of a second Trump term," while one commented, "Reminder: the entire Democratic Party lied to you."

A person also added, "A year later. This aged like milk," whereas one mentioned, "I can’t stop staring at this. A year later and it’s only more insane they would post this."
