WASHINGTON, DC: Don Lemon has ignited a firestorm among liberals by suggesting that Kamala Harris might not secure strong support from Black voters in the 2024 presidential battle against Donald Trump.

Despite recent polling indicating an uptick in Harris' favorability among Black voters—particularly after President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the re-presidential race—Lemon, a former CNN anchor and liberal media fixture, has cast doubt on these optimistic figures.

Don Lemon gives insight into Kamala Harris' popularity among Black voters

After a series of interviews with Black voters across the United States, Don Lemon revealed insights that have stirred significant controversy, the Daily Mail reported.

Speaking with former White House press secretary and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki, Lemon expressed skepticism about the accuracy of the polls showing Harris’ growing support.

He noted that many Black voters are unfamiliar with Harris and observed that some Black men credit Trump with providing pandemic relief checks, a factor that continues to resonate with them.

"I am not quite sure that the polls are accurate as it relates to the tightening of the polls and who will support whom," Lemon told Psaki.

He elaborated by saying that Black men, particularly, were "supporting Donald Trump because he gave them a stimulus check."

Lemon continued, "He gave them $1,200 back when he was president. They did not somehow remember that the current president also gave them a stimulus check, except his name wasn't on it." He was referring to Biden's relief payments, which were attributed to Trump due to the checks bearing his name.

"So, when they got the check, and his name was on it, they automatically thought it came directly from Donald Trump, which I think is good marketing," Lemon added.

Don Lemon says some Black voters are not familiar with Kamala Harris

Don Lemon’s interviews across various locations in the US, from Jersey Shore to Pennsylvania and Ohio, revealed a troubling issue for Democrats—Black voters' lack of familiarity with Kamala Harris.

He noted, "For the most part, in Pittsburgh, or the Jersey Shore, in Ohio, many people did not know who she was. They were not familiar with her."

Lemon added that many Black voters perceived Trump as better for the economy and felt he was "on Black people's side."

He expressed concern that these voters had been misled, saying, "I think it's important for them to understand and go to the voting booth with some knowledge that they are informed as an electorate. And for other reasons, they were telling me, the information was all false. They didn't understand the correct reasons why they might vote for him."

Pew research shows Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump among Black voters

Recent data from Pew Research showed that Kamala Harris is leading against Donald Trump with Black voters by 77% to 13%. Despite this, Harris' numbers still lag behind the 92% of the Black vote that Joe Biden received in 2020.

Lemon’s findings and his viral clips, including an exchange where a voter laughs in his face after he challenges his personal experience and another where he sensationally asks a male interviewee if his resistance to Harris is because "she is a woman," have raised questions about the reliability of current polling data.

One clip going viral on X shows Lemon interviewing strangers in Atlantic City, NJ, where many agreed they felt more financially stable under Trump's presidency. In a toe-curling exchange, a voter laughed in Lemon's face after he tried to argue with his personal experience.

Another voter told Lemon, "I want Donald Trump. I just feel we need somebody who has a stronger background with the military and the world in general."

She added, "I know nobody likes him but we had good times with Donald Trump. Our economy was good. Life was good." Another respondent said, "I want to support the Democratic party, but I mean Trump looks like he's got it in the bag right now."

Lemon is heard telling two voters that the "stats show" the economy was stronger under Biden than Trump, to which they both dismiss his assertions.

Liberals slam Don Lemon for his analysis of Black voters

Don Lemon's analysis has met with sharp criticism from liberals. Many took to social media to express their dismay about his remarks on Black voters not being familiar with Kamala Harris.

Conservatives, however, seemed to revel in the discord, highlighting Psaki's visible discomfort with Lemon's revelations about Harris and Trump's support among Black voters.

One individual wrote, "Let's be realistic, he could have fished that boardwalk all day and night and gotten probably all the answers he wanted. He actually published both sides, despite making it clear he is still on his own side."

Another user replied, "From having your own show to being a tiktoker, a bad one at that."

One user added, "Words alone cannot express my contempt for this man."

Another said, "Dude said “i made more money under Trump” and then Don Le-Mon says “yeah you may feel that way but actually you are lying. You are making more money now. That’s just a fact. Stop lying. I know more about your own money than yourself” That’s wild."

One user commented, "Total loser trying to be Tucker and failing hard."

Another person said, "Just like kappernick hoping he get the call again one day."
