PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: Former President Donald Trump faced scrutiny over his appearance during his first presidential debate with Kamala Harris on Tuesday, September 10, with many viewers mocking his "orange bronzer" look.

The 2024 Republican presidential hopeful appeared on stage with his trademark navy suit and red tie, featuring an American flag on his left lapel. However, his face’s overly orange hue drew significant attention and criticism on social media.

Trump's usual bleach-blonde hair also seemed notably different, adding to the debate over his appearance.

Trump accuses Haitian migrants of 'eating the pets'

The 90-minute debate, which was their first head-to-head clash since President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, covered a range of topics including the economy, abortion, immigration, and healthcare.

During the fiery debate, Trump repeated debunked claims that Haitian migrants were stealing and eating pets in Ohio. “In Springfield, they're eating the dogs, the people that came in,” the 45th president alleged. “They're eating the cats. They're eating the pets of the people that live there.”

Harris, whose microphone was off at the time, appeared to mouth "What?" and shook her head in disbelief.

ABC's David Muir, one of the debate moderators, quickly fact-checked Trump, stating that the city manager and police in Springfield found "no credible reports" of such incidents. Trump responded defiantly, saying, "We'll see," and insisted that he had seen reports on TV.

When Harris’ mic was back on, she simply chuckled and remarked, "Talk about extreme."

Muir, alongside moderator Linsey Davis, faced criticism from Trump, who claimed on Truth Social that the moderators were biased against him. “I thought that was my best Debate, EVER, especially since it was THREE ON ONE!” he declared.

Following the debate, Kamala Harris’ campaign proposed a second debate in October, although no date has yet been confirmed.

Social media reacts to Trump’s debate look

Social media was abuzz with comments on Donald Trump’s distinctive appearance during the debate.

"I’m already confused why Donald Trump’s make up artist didn’t put the orange makeup all over?" a social media user tweeted.

"It’s the same orange he’s worn for years. He does his own make up, btw, and not well," a second user tweeted.

"Looks like he has jaundice," a third added.

"Am I the only one staring at Donald Trump's orange lipstick? #Debate2024" questioned a user.

"From orange to blonde! Trump wore his new wig for the debate," read a tweet.

"How good was the debate? Trump with his orange makeup and whine lost big time," penned a user.

"Watching the presidential debate & trump face really orange," chimed another.
