WASHINGTON, DC: The dynamic address delivered by Vice President Kamala Harris in Milwaukee on Tuesday, July 23, signaled a significant change in the 2024 presidential campaign strategy.

President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race has given Harris the opportunity to spearhead an aggressive campaign effort that stands in sharp contrast to Biden's prior strategy.

Salon’s Amanda Marcotte argued that Harris' dynamic presence on the campaign trail could force former president Donald Trump into a challenging position.

Amanda Marcotte highlighted Kamala Harris' ability to maintain a high-energy campaign in contrast with Biden who struggled to balance campaign activities with his presidential duties.

"The contrast with Biden, who struggled to find the energy to campaign on top of running a country, will be notable," she noted.

"She is well-positioned to give endless interviews, attend frequent events, and give oh-so-many speeches," she wrote further suggesting that Harris' relentless campaigning will put Trump in a difficult spot.

Marcotte also noted the contrast as with Harris being a 'relatively youthful 59-year-old woman," who is fun, energetic and gives good speeches.

Donald Trump will make things worse for himself trying to match Kamala Harris' hectic campaign

Amanda Marcotte explained that Joe Biden's stumbling debate performance and infrequent public appearances had allowed Trump to limit his own campaign efforts while spending much of his time golfing in Florida, Raw Story noted.

However, with Harris now actively campaigning, Trump will have to adjust his strategy.

"Now that Biden has exited the race and Harris appears set on barnstorming the country in the final sprint to the White House, however, Trump has nowhere to hide," Marcotte wrote.

"In fact," she stated, "Trump is liable to make things worse for himself if he tries to match Harris' hectic campaign given how much his rhetoric in the past has shown itself to be repulsive to swing voters."

She continued, "With Harris as the Democratic nominee, however, Trump is caught in a no-win situation." Marcotte elaborated that if Trump chooses to stay off the campaign trail, he risks appearing old and weak, similar to the criticism faced by Biden.

On the other hand, the increased media appearances and events outside the MAGA bubble could draw negative attention to Trump, reminding voters of why they dislike him.

"In the face of this paradox, Trump's first impulse was to keep pretending Biden is his opponent. As reality sets in, Trump's freaking out," Marcotte noted.

Debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris would draw influence voters

Amanda Marcotte suggested that a debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris would highlight their differences in communication style and substance.

"A debate between Trump and Harris would further draw a favorable contrast between the two candidates, as Harris would remind voters how much nicer it is when a politician can speak in complete sentences without going off on weird tangents about electric sharks and 'the late, great Hannibal Lecter,'" she said.

Marcotte criticized Trump's recent speech at the Republican National Convention, implying that it likely gave swing voters the impression of a "racist grandpa is up way past his bedtime."
