Internet outraged as Barron Trump named Florida delegate for Republican National Convention
TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron Trump, was picked as an at-large delegate from Florida for the Republican National Convention, reported NBC News.
Barron, who is set to graduate from high school on May 17, has remained out of the political spotlight, unlike the other children of the former president.
According to the delegate list, on Wednesday, May 8, the Republican Party of Florida chose the 18-year-old to serve as one of the state's at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention. This marks his most significant political role to date.
The 2024 Republican National Convention, where the White House hopeful will officially be declared the GOP nominee for president, is scheduled to be held from July 15 to 18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Barron Trump interested in the 'political process'
A Trump campaign official confirmed Barron's selection to ABC News. "Yes, he's on the delegation roster and Barron is very interested in our nation's political process," the campaign official said
Barron, who led a private life unlike his older siblings, made headlines last month ahead of his billionaire father's hush money trial in New York.
The presumptive GOP nominee requested to be excused from the criminal trial on May 17 in order to attend his son's graduation, which Judge Juan Merchan granted.
Besides Barron, other politically active Trump family members were also selected as at-large delegates for the GOP convention, including the former president's older sons, Eric Trump, who will be the delegation's chairman, Donald Trump Jr, his girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, and the real estate mogul's youngest daughter Tiffany Trump.
The list contains other close Trump allies like former state Attorney General Pam Bondi, longtime Trump adviser Sergio Gor, Tiffany's husband Michael Boulous, and ex-Marvel Entertainment Chairman Ike Perlmutter.
"We are fortunate to have a great group of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family working together as part of the Florida delegation to the 2024 Republican National Convention," said Florida GOP Chair Evan Power.
He added, "The RPOF is ready for a great convention in Milwaukee, but more importantly, we are excited as we continue to lay the groundwork in Florida for success. Mark my words, we are going to win, and we will win big in November!"
Internet slams Barron Trump's inclusion in Republican National Convention
Netizens criticized Barron's inclusion as a delegate in the Republican National Convention, pointing out nepotism as well as his age.
One user wrote, "Republicans want a monarchy." Another remarked, "Talk about brown nosing…."
"@realDonaldTrump will stop at nothing and pimp out his family. Disgusting. @MELANIATRUMP: protect your son from this egregious use," a user added.
Another response read, "How absurd. A teenager. This is mommy’s chance of staying in power. No to the no." [sic]
A user said, "Nauseating. He’s still a child - if most obviously emotionally. This is cruel."
