CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Former President Donald Trump expressed his frustration towards New York Governor Kathy Hochul following her remarks at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago on Monday, August 19.

Trump, clearly hurt by Hochul's criticism, took to Truth Social on Wednesday, August 21, calling her the "nastiest speaker" at the convention and accusing her of displaying "total hatred" towards him.

He said that her hatred towards him contributed to his legal challenges in New York, including his hush money case

Donald Trump claims his contributions to New York were overlooked by Kathy Hochul

Donald Trump's reaction came after Kathy Hochul, during her five-minute speech at the DNC, labeled him as a "fraud" and a "felon."

In response, Trump defended his record in New York, stating that he had employed thousands of people, constructed numerous successful buildings, and paid billions in taxes.

"Kathy Hochul, the very unpopular Governor of New York, was the nastiest speaker on Monday evening (at the Democrat National Convention) as it pertains to your favorite President, me," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

"Her total hatred, and statements made about me, had no bounds," he added.

Kathy Hochul denounces Donald Trump in scathing DNC speech

During her speech at the convention, Kathy Hochul contrasted her upbringing and values with those of Donald Trump, despite both being New Yorkers.

She noted that while she shared values of "grit, determination, and compassion" with Kamala Harris, Trump embodied a different set of qualities.

“Donald Trump was born a New Yorker, but ended up a fraud, a philanderer, and a felon,” Hochul stated during her speech.

“If you think you’re tired of Donald Trump, talk to a New Yorker. We’ve had to deal with him for 78 long years—the fraud, the tax-dodging, the sham university, the shady charities," she continued, according to the Daily Beast.

"We’ve seen him stiff contractors, rip off workers. He abuses women, brags about it, and then takes away their rights. And New Yorkers are sick of it," Hochul said, further criticizing Trump.

"It’s no wonder he had to flee to Mar-a-Lago—sorry about that, Florida, sorry about that. Trump hasn’t spent much time in New York lately. Except, that is, to get convicted of 34 felonies," she spoke further.

Donald Trump blames 'biased' New York judicial system for his legal woes

Donald Trump also mentioned his ongoing legal battles in New York, attributing the harsh treatment he has received from the judicial system to the animosity displayed by Kathy Hochul.

He suggested that the biased New York judicial system, which he claims is "largely controlled by the Governor," has contributed to his legal challenges.

"With the vitriol displayed by her on Monday night, it is no wonder that the Judges have treated me so badly,” Trump added to the post.

“The whole system is RIGGED, and companies are leaving because of it!!!” he further argued.

Trump also questioned whether having a hostile relationship with the governor would benefit the people of New York as he claimed he will be the president.

“Number two is that, on the very distinct possibility I will win the Presidency, wouldn’t it be better for the people of New York State to have a Governor who got along with the President? Adversarial relationships are not good in politics!”
