WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump insisted that he has "nothing to do" with the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 and has sought to distance himself from the conservative think tank's proposal.

The former president denied involvement in Project 2025 initiatives and disagreed with several of its aspects.

Donald Trump says few things outlined by Project 2025 are 'absolutely ridiculous'

In his Truth Social post on Friday, July 5, Donald Trump wrote, “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it."

“I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them," he said of the project.

Overview of Project 2025

Project 2025, a 900-page 2025 Presidential Transition proposal outlines policies and initiatives some conservatives hope a future Republican administration would adopt.

The project, which covers five main topics, "Taking the Reins of Government," "The Common Defense," "The General Welfare," '"The Economy" and "Independent Regulatory Agencies" is a “governing agenda” that includes insights from scholars and policy experts.

Among its wide-ranging policy proposals, the project aims to reshape the powers of the executive branch, according to The Hill.

Eliminating small government agencies, rolling back funding for abortions, and approval of mifepristone, an abortion pill are also proposed in the project.

Another significant proposal is the reimplementation of Schedule F which could affect 50,000 workers.

Schedule F is a classification for federal workers, making it easier to dismiss them and replace them with loyalists.

Democratic opposition to Project 2025

Criticizing Project 2025, Democrats viewed it as evidence of an extreme agenda that could be implemented if Donald Trump is reelected in 2024.

In June, House Democrats launched a campaign to oppose the project and formed a task force to combat what they see as a threat to American democracy and the government.

Internet slams Donald Trump for denying involvement in Project 2025

Reacting to Donald Trump saying he has "nothing to do" with Project 2025, one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "He diagrees with some of it's elements, which means he does infact knows about it, he is lying."

"We should all know by now that every denial from him is an admission," a netizen commented while another user tweeted, "Actually, he said he knows nothing about it AND that he disagrees with it, which can't both be true. So, in essence, a lie."

One wrote, "The way he is denying, he has everything to do with it," and another remarked, "But the reality suggest otherwise."
