WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump Jr attempted to roast Democratic Vice Presidential pick Tim Walz in a social media post by sharing a video from a recent rally where Walz is seen greeting his wife with a handshake and a hug. However, people criticized him and shared a similar video of Donald Trump.

Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris selected Walz as her VP pick last week during a rally in Philadelphia and announced that he is the VP America deserves. He was selected through a vetting process which had other contenders as well.

Trump Jr posted a video on X on Sunday, August 11, and wrote in the caption, "Totally normal to greet your wife with a firm handshake and a bro hug/back slap. Tim Walz isn't weird at all, guys."

In the video, Tim Walz greets his wife with a handshake and a hug and she gives him a backslap during one of his recent rallies. The three-second clip has so far garnered more than 12.2 million views.

Harris and Walz ended their first week together on the campaign trail with a rally in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 10, as the Democratic party seeks to strengthen its base and win voters in battleground states such as Nevada.

During the rally, Harris told supporters that she supported eliminating taxes on tips to win over service workers, an important constituency in the state. It is a move similar to that of Trump's.

She said, "It is my promise to everyone here when I am president we will continue to fight for working families, including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers."

Harris also expressed her support for raising the federal minimum wage. She informed reporters that she would release her policy platform next week, focusing on the economy and on lowering costs for working families, according to the New York Times.

Moreover, Harris took questions from the press pool and it was the first time since she became the Democratic presidential nominee that she engaged with reporters. She said she planned to deliver a policy platform next week.

Internet slams Donald Trump Jr for trolling Tim Walz

Many people on the internet slammed Trump Jr as he tried to troll Tim Walz by sharing a clip of him hugging his wife. Internet users trolled him and reshared similar moments of Trump and Melania.

A user wrote on X, "My guy, your father hasn’t been seen in public with his wife since 2022. Sit down," while one added, "What do you or your dad know about greeting wives? You might want to sit this one out - weirdos."

A person also stated, "Where's Melania been lately?"

Another added, "You’re not very good at this."

A user also wrote, Totally normal for a wife to hold a husband's hand," while one commented, "Bruh Melania has NEVER kissed your father on the mouth. She acts like he’s her uncle."

A person also added, "Yes, normal. We all know you don’t know what real love is from your family though, so we get why this would be hard for you to understand."

A person commented on the video with a clip of Trump handshaking with Melania and wrote, "Who’s this? .. and then he pushes her away."
