MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Donald Trump Jr recently alleged that he had been "blacklisted" from appearing on Fox News, a claim that the network promptly refuted.

According to a report from Axios, Trump Jr made the claim during the Republican National Convention. He insisted that Rupert Murdoch's media empire, which includes Fox News, "is not what it used to be."

He elaborated, "There was a time where if you wanted to survive in the Republican Party, you had to bend the knee to him or to others. I don't think that's the case anymore."

Donald Trump Jr slammed as Fox News responds

In response to Trump Jr's claims, a Fox News spokesperson stated, "Prior to the Axios event, 'Fox & Friends' asked him to appear on the show on Wednesday and he has since accepted that booking. He is and always has been welcome on all Fox News Media platforms."

Further supporting their stance, Axios reported that Trump Jr was interviewed by a Fox News reporter on the first day of the convention.

Trump Jr's claim of being "blacklisted" was met with ridicule and mockery from critics on social media.

"Can't he just be ...banned...like in general, from everything?" one posted on X.

"Ummm because he’s toxic?" another wrote.

"He’s lying. But nice PR attempt," someone else alleged.

"He was on Fox literally a day ago," a comment read.

"He's just a bad interviewee. He has difficulty putting 2 coherent thoughts together and if he sits on his hands, he goes mute," another offered.

Donald Trump Jr's heated exchange with MSNBC

In addition to his claims about Fox News, Donald Trump Jr had a contentious interaction with MSNBC reporter Jacob Soboroff at the convention.

This exchange occurred on the first day of the event, where the former president, Donald Trump, was officially nominated as the Republican Party’s presidential candidate.

The tension arose when Soboroff questioned Trump Jr about what a second term under his father would entail and suggested that Donald Trump had been a "divisive figure" during his first term.

Trump Jr vehemently disagreed, stating, "I don’t think he was a divisive figure at all. I think the media created [divisiveness] around him. They lied about Russia, Russia collusion, they said that he was a traitor, they went after him in every which way possible."

He continued, "If the media actually starts being an honest broker, talking about the things that he did, the prosperity he brought, the peace deals that he signed around the world rather than the disaster that we’re living right now, I think you’d do everyone in the country a big favor."

The exchange became more heated when Soboroff asked whether Trump would again attempt to separate migrant children from their parents at the border.

Trump Jr, standing alongside his brother Eric Trump, sister Tiffany Trump, and fiancee Kimberly Guilfoyle, responded by implicating the Obama administration in similar practices.

Soboroff quickly retorted, “You know they didn’t do that, sir.” Trump Jr then lashed out, “It’s MSDNC so I expect nothing less from you clowns,” Trump Jr said. “Even today, even 48 hours later, you couldn’t wait, you couldn’t wait with your lies and with your nonsense."

He concluded the interaction with, “So, just get out of here,” waving his hand dismissively.

Beyond his media interactions, Trump Jr reportedly played a significant role in his father’s decision-making, particularly in selecting Sen JD Vance (R-OH) as the 2024 GOP running mate.

Vance is a personal friend of Trump Jr, indicating the influence he holds within his father's political sphere.

Fox News faces backlash and controversy over pro-Trump figures

While Fox News maintains that Trump Jr is welcome on their platforms, the network has restricted other pro-Trump figures.

For instance, Mike Lindell, CEO of MyPillow and a staunch Trump supporter, has been barred from appearing on the network. This decision is partly due to ongoing defamation lawsuits related to Lindell’s unproven claims about election fraud.

Furthermore, Fox News stopped airing MyPillow ads, reflecting a broader trend of limiting controversial figures.

Fox News, despite being a central figure in the right-wing media landscape, has experienced a tumultuous relationship with Donald Trump. The former president has frequently criticized the network for not covering him favorably and for hosting guests who are critical of him.
