WASHINGTON, DC: Records acquired by Business Insider show that the liquor licenses of Donald Trump's three New Jersey golf clubs are under the name of his eldest son Donald Trump Jr.

The disclosure came after state officials declared on Friday, June 28, that the former president is barred from benefitting from the licenses owing to his recent criminal conviction.

Donald Trump can't be barred from possessing a liquor license until after his hush money sentencing

New Jersey state officials noted that they will not be renewing the liquor licenses for Trump National Bedminster and Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck because of Trump's conviction in the hush money case in May.

The two permits are set to expire on Sunday, but the two clubs can continue to sell alcohol until a July 19 hearing on the licenses.

Notably, Trump's third golf club, Trump National Philadelphia, located 45 minutes outside that city in Pine Hill, New Jersey, had its liquor license extended by that borough on June 3, just four days after the former president was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 presidential election. However, by some strange coincidence of scheduling, the license renewal got through at the last minute. A representative for the state's attorney general's office clarified that no New Jersey official could bar Trump from possessing a liquor license until after his sentencing, which is scheduled for July 11.

The state has not yet taken any action on the Pine Hill license.

Liquor licensing regulations are handled by the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control of the AG's office in New Jersey. Two weeks ago, Attorney General Matthew J Platkin declared that his office was reviewing all three licenses.

The significance of the review was downplayed by Trump at the time. One of his spokespersons claimed that he is "not the holder of any liquor license in New Jersey, and he is not an officer or director of any entity that holds a liquor license in New Jersey — or anywhere in the United States for that matter."

Meanwhile, Attorney General Platkin's spokesperson said on Friday, "A review by ABC indicates that Mr Trump maintains a direct beneficial interest in the three liquor licenses through the receipt of revenues and profits from them, as the sole beneficiary of the Donald J Trump Revocable Trust."

Internet slams Donald Trump as records reveal liquor licenses of his New Jersey golf clubs are in son Donald Trump Jr's name

Netizens were quick to slam the former president as they got to know that the liquor licenses of his three New Jersey golf clubs are under the name of his eldest son.

One wrote, "Good! @realDonaldTrump You just think you are above everything, and your just as guilty kids!" Another added, "I never want to hear about how smart this criminal MOB family is again. Save it"

"Great! He shouldn’t have lied about paying to bury his extramarital boinkage and intentional tax fraud / campaign fund violations. Moral turpitude is him, top to bottom and it’s the law applied equally. Yank his liquor licenses as you would any other convicted felons," expressed a person.

An individual joked, "Imagine having to be near that criminal and also not being able to drink!" and someone else joked, "Big surprise. Trumps cheats at everything, including golf ."
