WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump said that he is open to debating the Democratic presumptive nominee Kamala Harris more than once ahead of the 2024 presidential election in November, reported Fox News.

Vice President Harris began her run for the White House after Joe Biden announced suspending his reelection campaign, and endorsed her. In a post over the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Biden wrote, "My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this."

Support began to pour in for Harris from the moment she announced joining the race. By Monday night, she had secured the backing of more than the 1,976 delegates required to lock up the party's nomination, to be announced at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Donald Trump says he's willing to go up against Kamala Harris at debate

During a conference call with reporters on July 23, Trump was asked by Fox News' Bill Melugin whether he would commit to going up against Harris in a debate at least once.

"Absolutely. I'd want to. I think it's important," replied the former President. "I would be willing to do more than one debate, actually."

He went on to note, "I haven’t agreed to anything. I agreed to a debate with Joe Biden," but insisted that taking on Harris "will be no different because they have the same policies."

While Trump skipped out on all GOP presidential primary debates in the run-up to the Republican National Convention, he said, "I think debating is important for a presidential race. I really do. I think if you’re the Democrat nominee or the Republican nominee, you have an obligation to debate. I think it’s very important."

The second debate between him and Biden was scheduled to be hosted by ABC News in early September. Trump dissed the network saying, "I'm not thrilled about ABC because they're truly fake news."

He added that on the subject of any upcoming debate, "I have at least equal say. And I don't like the idea of ABC."

Internet divided over Trump and Kamala Harris debate

Social media users were overjoyed about a potential presidential debate between the former president and the current Vice President. While some believe Trump will win an easy victory, others claim Harris will prevail.

"Oh, I'd pay good money to see that! Just imagine the epic back-and-forth. Trump would be like a WWE wrestler, complete with dramatic pauses and wild hand gestures, while Harris serves up her signature smile with a side of factual smackdown. Someone get the popcorn, because this debate is going to need a replay button and possibly an Oscar for Best Reality Show!" wrote a user.

"That would be worth watching," stated another.

"Trump is a master debater," claimed a third.

"Criminal prosecutor versus convicted felon? Hilarious," jibed a fourth.

"Oh watch what you ask for ! Kamala will eat you for breakfast, lunch and dinner !" exclaimed a fifth.

"ROFL!! can't wait for trump to have a debate with a stable person!" quipped yet another.
