MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Donald Trump has scheduled his election campaign stop in Minnesota on the same day as his son Barron Trump's graduation in Florida.

The former president's decision to add the campaign stop on May 17 at the Minnesota Republican Party's annual Lincoln Reagan Dinner, which conflicts with his 18-year-old son's graduation from Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, has ignited criticism.

Judge Juan Merchan allowed Donald Trump to attend son Barron's graduation

On April 30, Judge Juan Merchan overseeing the hush money criminal trial approved Trump's request to attend his son's high school trial amid the ongoing trial.

“I don’t think the May 17 date is a problem,” the judge said in the Manhattan courtroom.

Donald Trump accused Judge Merchan of not allowing him to attend his son Barron's graduation

Merchan granted Trump permission to attend his son's graduation after the politician repeatedly launched scathing attacks against the judge on social media and in courthouse interviews for allegedly hindering his ability to attend Barron's graduation.

"Who will explain for me, to my wonderful son, Barron, who is a great student at a fantastic school, that his dad will likely not be allowed to attend his Graduation Ceremony," the 77-year-old wrote on his Truth Social platform on April 16, 2024.

"Something that we have been talking about for years, because a seriously conflicted and corrupt New York State Judge wants me in Criminal Court on a bogus 'Biden Case' which, according to virtually all legal scholars and pundits, has no merit, and should never have been brought," he continued.

"The Judge, Juan Merchan, is preventing me from proudly attending my son’s graduation. Seems very unfair, doesn’t it? But this whole event is unfair," he added.

"Every one of the many fake cases that are perpetuated by the White House in order to help the worst President in history, by far, get re-elected, are unjust scams," Trump claimed in his post in April, according to OK Magazine.

Internet criticizes Donald Trump's decision to campaign in Minnesota on son Barron's graduation day

While the outcome of Trump's clash of priorities is uncertain, netizens slammed the former president's decision to add a campaign stop in Minnesota on son Barron's graduation day.

"Did anyone really expect him to go to Barton’s graduation?" a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) while another user wrote, "I think the judge should reverse his decision and make it a court day."

One user wrote, "Of course. Anybody surprised?" and a netizen tweeted, "He was never going in the first place. Virtually every thing Trump says is a lie."

"The judge should be informed and order Trump to attend trial," a user opined while another user commented, "Let's hope Judge Merchan finds out that Trump lied to him."
