WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump reportedly told former President Joe Biden that they could have been good friends and gone golfing "in another life," a new book revealed.

Trump and Biden were rivals during the 2024 presidential election until the former POTUS stepped down from the race following a disastrous debate performance against the Republican. He later endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement.

New book claims Donald Trump told Joe Biden they could’ve been friends and golf buddies

The book, titled '2024,' has been authored by political reporters Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf. It was released on Tuesday, July 8, and is based on more than 350 post-election interviews.

According to the book, Donald Trump reportedly told Joe Biden, "In another life we would be friends and go golfing."

The book claims this moment occurred at the White House, when Biden invited Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for the customary inauguration visit.

"The same customary courtesy that Trump had refused him four years earlier," the authors noted. They added, "Now Trump accepted amicably."

Meanwhile, lip readers claimed that Biden greeted Trump by saying, "welcome home," a sharp contrast to Trump's usual attitude toward Biden.

Interestingly, Trump refused to attend Biden’s inauguration in 2021, becoming the first outgoing president to skip the ceremony since Andrew Johnson in 1869.

Donald Trump blames Joe Biden for key issues

President Donald Trump has never shied away from taking jabs at former President Joe Biden. The POTUS has blamed Biden for inflation, the migrant crisis, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, among other issues.

Moreover, he has reportedly mentioned Biden an average of "six times a day," according to an April 2025 analysis by NBC News.

Trump had referenced Biden at least 580 times since his inauguration, the analysis stated. Similarly, a separate New York Times analysis revealed that Trump mentioned Biden's name more often than he said the word "America" during his first 50 days in office.

Meanwhile, the book '2024' also discusses the relationship between Kamala Harris and Trump, reflecting on the concession call Harris made to Trump after the 2024 election results, when her aides reportedly struggled to merge her into the call.
