Donald Trump's 13 rounds of golfing costs taxpayers an eye-watering amount, claims report

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: President Donald Trump has reportedly played golf 13 out of the 48 days he has been back in office for his second term, and the trips to Florida have cost taxpayers an eye-watering sum of money.

As per a report by HuffPost, Trump has played 10 rounds of golf at the private Trump International West Palm Beach and three at the Trump Doral since returning to the Oval Office.

Donald Trump's golf weekends cost $18.2 million worth taxpayers money

HuffPost claimed after citing costs from a 2019 Government Accountability Office report that the president’s weekend golf sessions in Florida now cost American taxpayers more than $18 million.

Interestingly, during Trump's first term in office, his trips were put at $151.5 million over four years as the first four trips cost $3,383,250 each in 2017, per the outlet.

Notably, the POTUS and his entourage travel via Air Force One while the military transports his motorcade vehicles using C-17 planes which costs a huge amount of money.

Meanwhile, when Trump travels from Mar-a-Lago to the golf club. it involves crossing back onto the mainland from the barrier island, and police boats with machine guns mounted on the bows patrol the waterway.

Moreover, a Coast Guard vessel remains stationed off the beach in the Atlantic. Other expenses include local law enforcement and explosive-sniffing dogs, the report mentions.

Interestingly, security has been upped greatly following the two assassination attempts on the president during the 2024 campaign.

On Saturday, March 8, police confirmed that they were investigating an incident of vandalism at Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, according to Unilad.

Donald Trump takes Air Force One to the Daytona 500

In February 2025, Donald Trump made his second appearance as president at the Daytona 500, a NASCAR Cup Series motor race, and reached the venue in Air Force One.

Interestingly, his visit caused intense scrutiny as one of the hallmarks of his second presidential term has been his bid to cut federal spending, especially with the establishment of the Elon Musk-led DOGE.



 

Meanwhile, NASCAR fans enjoyed seeing the Air Force One fly over the area before Trump rode in the presidential limousine onto the Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, according to BBC.

Notably, Air Force One took off from Palm Beach International Airport on February 16 afternoon. The White House stated that the president was joined by his son Eric, grandson Luke, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum among others.

The president was present at the race for about an hour and started the day's festivities by leading a lap around the racetrack before the race began, per the outlet.

He also shared a statement expressing his enthusiasm for attending the Daytona 500 before his arrival. He stated, "Today, I look forward to joining tens of thousands of American Patriots in Daytona Beach, Florida, for the “Great American Race”—the legendary Daytona 500—and the official start to the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series."

"The Daytona 500 brings together people from all walks of life—from lifelong racing fans to first-time spectators—they all join in celebrating a shared passion for speed, adrenaline, and the thrill of the race," the statement added.
