Fans claim Pitbull’s career ‘almost over’ after dismal Daytona 500 performance as he quits NASCAR team

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA: The thrilling Daytona 500 race is back but Pitbull threw a curve in the proceedings as he announced ending his commercial ties to the NASCAR team Trackhouse Racing.
According to the Irish Star, President Donald Trump attended the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 16, just a few days after Pitbull's announcement.
Although Pitbull parted ways with Trackhouse Racing, he performed at the Daytona 500. The performance, though highly anticipated, reportedly did not live up to the expectations of fans.

Pitbull quits NASCAR team days before Donald Trump's Daytona 500 appearance
Pitbull unexpectedly decided to quit the NASCAR team Trackhouse Racing just a few days before the Daytona 500. Fans were a little confused over the timing of the announcement, though he performed at the event as committed earlier.
The musician announced that he was severing his relationship with his racing team in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on February 14. However, he did not provide an explanation for his decision.

"Ending partnership with Trackhouse Racing. Over the past five years, we’ve made history by introducing NASCAR to a whole new audience and falling in love with NASCAR fans at the same time," Pitbull wrote.
"We have made the decision to terminate the partnership with Trackhouse Racing, effective immediately. We’re looking forward to performing on the sport’s biggest stage this Sunday, the Daytona 500. It is a true honor, Dale!" he added.
Pitbull had served as Trackhouse's co-owner alongside former NASCAR driver Justin Marks since the team's first season in 2021. Its headquarters are located in Concord, North Carolina, and its lineup includes Shane Van Gisbergen in the No. 88 Chevrolet, Ross Chastain in the No. 1 Chevrolet, and Daniel Suarez in the No. 99 Chevrolet, per The Mirror.
On the other hand, after Super Bowl 2025, President Trump showed up at Daytona 500 in Florida on Sunday.
"From the roar of the engines on the track to the echo of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' soaring through the stands, the Daytona 500 is a timeless tribute to the speed, strength, and unyielding spirit that make America great." –President Donald J. Trump 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/6WRt8WtM0u

"From the roar of the engines on the track to the echo of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' soaring through the stands, the Daytona 500 is a timeless tribute to the speed, strength and unyielding spirit that make America great," Trump said in a statement.
Despite his separation from the NASCAR team, Pitbull kept his word and performed at the event. However, the performance did not captivate the crowd.

Fans were not just upset about decisions made in the boardroom; they were also disappointed by Pitbull's musical performance at the event, where he included a bit of Bon Jovi in his routine.
Fans dismayed by Pitbull's decision to quit NASCAR team and Daytona 500 performance
Fans felt Pitbull's decision to end ties with Trackhouse Racing was somewhat weird and the timing of the separation was "suspect", considering his performance to begin the Daytona 500.

One X user exclaimed, "You're cutting ties 2 days before the season starts? And you're still sticking around to perform??"
A second user added, "Tore up 3 cars. Running 1 for no prize money. I'm out. Gonna be a long season, or maybe pitbull ain't sellin like it used to."
"The last part is cryptic I have a feeling a new partner is coming in," another added.

Fans were not only offended by the commercial decision. Pitbull's musical performance at the event, where he sampled 'Now or Never' by Bon Jovi, left them feeling let down.
"Just saw Pitbull performing the pre-show at the Daytona 500 sampling a Bon Jovi song from the late 80s and that's how I know his career is almost over. Next stop the county fair," seethed one X user.
Another one added, "Just watched @pitbull on @NASCAR at Daytona. Pitbull s***s a**. Hews awful. Bon Jovi singing with his great voice and put just destroys a good song with his trash. Pitbull is a prime example of a fad."
"Pitbull covering bon jovi should be a felony," remarked one user.
Another added, "Nothing screams #DAYTONA500 more than Pitbull performing whatever lyrics he's singing to Bon Jovi's Now or Never audio and chorus."
