WASHINGTON, DC: Melania Trump surprised visitors this holiday season with a new artistic addition to the White House: a Lego portrait of President Donald Trump that appears to mirror his stern official photo.

The first lady debuted her Christmas theme, “Home Is Where The Heart Is,” on Monday, December 1, revealing a festive display filled with symbolism, nostalgia and bold artistic choices.

Melania Trump's Lego tribute stands out in a decor filled with symbolism

Displayed in the historic Green Room, the Lego portrait sits beside another Lego rendering of former President George Washington. Both pieces are framed by wreaths decorated with red Lego ribbons, blending traditional décor with playful craftsmanship.

A White House press release explained that the first lady’s inspiration came from “the joys, challenges, and frequent motion derived from motherhood and business.”

Melania added in her own words, “This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves, and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with grace, radiance, and endless possibilities.”

Her statement reflects the broader theme of grounding and resilience, a sentiment woven throughout this year's décor.

10,000 blue butterflies and ‘Be Best’ ornaments return to the White House

In the “Fostering the Future Red Room,” 10,000 fluttering blue butterflies honor the foster care community, a tribute designed by Hervé Pierre. The room also features “Be Best” ornaments, nodding to Melania’s controversial first-term initiative.

The Blue Room houses the official White House Christmas tree, a towering concolor fir sourced from Sidney, Michigan. This year’s tree honors Gold Star Families with gold stars and ornaments representing every US state and territory. Another tree in the East Room pays homage to America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, displayed with a patriotic collar celebrating the nation’s founding.

Trumps fill White House with 50 trees, 75 wreaths and thousands of decorations

According to the Office of the first lady, the 2025 decor includes more than 50 Christmas trees, 75 wreaths adorned with classic red bows, 700 feet of garland, 25,000 feet of ribbon, and an eye-catching 10,000 butterflies.

Combined with the Lego portraits, Melania’s decor blends historic reverence with modern artistic flair.

White House walls continue to fill with new Trump-centric art

The Lego portrait is just one of several new depictions of Donald Trump added during his second term. In September, Sebastian Gorka shared an image of a dramatic new painting showing Trump walking forward in a long dark coat among rows of American flags.

Earlier in May, New York Times correspondent Shawn McCreesh posted a portrait of Trump with Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln looking over him.

Other additions include an artistic rendering of Trump’s July 2024 killing attempt, which he refers to as the “Butler ‘Fight, Fight, Fight’ painting”, a stylized American-flag overlay portrait, and a presidential portrait closely resembling his August 2023 mug shot.

Barack Obama's portrait moved out of public view as Trump reshapes White House art

While adding new artwork, Trump has quietly shifted other presidential portraits. In April, he replaced Barack Obama’s portrait with the “Butler ‘Fight, Fight, Fight’ painting”.

By August, Obama’s portrait was moved further out of sight to the top of the Grand Staircase, an area restricted to visitors.

CNN reported the portrait is now “firmly out of view,” marking a break from tradition that typically places the two most recent presidential portraits prominently in the Grand Foyer.
