Drake's rep responds after Keshia Chante's pregnancy sparks baby-daddy rumors
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Drake's representative has denied rumors that the rapper fathered a child with his former girlfriend Keshia Chante after the Canadian singer announced her pregnancy. Chante, 38, is seven months pregnant with a baby boy but has not revealed the identity of her unborn child's father.
On Tuesday, October 6, a representative for Drake, 39, shut down speculation that the rapper had fathered a child with Chante. "It's false," the spokesperson told PEOPLE. The clarification came after Chante announced her pregnancy on social media and spoke with Hello! Canada about her pregnancy and relationship status.
Drake's rep denied Keshia Chante pregnancy rumors
Chante, the former '106 & Park' co-host, told Hello! Canada that she is currently "unavailable" when asked about her relationship status. She did not reveal the name of her unborn child's father.
The singer did, however, speak about her partner and described him as "brilliant and super creative and just constantly doing things that I'm inspired by."
"So I would love to see my son have his mannerisms and his swag," she said.
Chante also revealed that becoming parents was her son's father's idea.
"I'm very free-spirited, and whatever the universe wants for me, I'll have," she said. "But he said he was ready. He set up the play and he nailed it! God bless him."
Why fans linked Drake to Keshia Chante's baby
In her pregnancy announcement, Chante referred to the baby's father as "Daddy" and joked about their son's future in music.
"Mommy & Daddy are so excited to welcome you into the world. Oh, and we've already got you booked & busy. Dada's got your studio locked and we expect your album to drop summer 2027," she wrote.
Chante also tagged Casa Loma, an event venue in Toronto that Drake has been tied to on more than one occasion. Many people in Chante's comment section asked whether Drake was the baby's father.
However, Chante did not identify Drake as her child's father, and his representative denied the rumor.
Drake and Keshia Chante previously dated
Chante previously dated Drake and was the inspiration for the line "Kiki, do you love me?" in his 2018 hit 'In My Feelings.'
Drake also spoke about Chante during his 2022 OVO Fest appearance. While introducing her before her performance, he called her his "first girlfriend I ever had in my life."
"This is my first girlfriend I ever had in my life coming to the stage," Drake said. "A real legend, somebody I love with all my heart," he added.
