BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS: A Dublin father has found himself at the centre of a viral storm after being mistaken for a tech executive caught on Coldplay’s kiss cam.
Sharing the same name as the embattled former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, the 42-year-old creative director revealed to The US Sun that he’s been bombarded with hundreds of LinkedIn messages from confused strangers.
Many believed he was the former Astronomer executive seen cuddling the company’s chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, on the jumbotron during Coldplay’s Boston concert, a moment that’s since racked up tens of millions of views.

Dublin father handles being mistaken for Astronomer's ex-CEO with a sense of humor
The father-of-two from Dublin has taken the case of mistaken identity in good humour, turning the unexpected attention into a chance to promote his business.
Speaking to the outlet, he confirmed he’s not the Andy at the centre of the Coldplay kiss cam drama, joking, “I’d never get caught dead at a Coldplay gig!”
The father, the creative director of Stylo.ie, described the past day as a “strange 24 hours” after the concert footage went viral. “I started getting messages from the lads asking if I enjoyed the Coldplay concert — and we were having a bit of craic about it.” he said. “Then I started getting strangers from LinkedIn messaging saying 'You got caught out bad’ and how ashamed I should be — a lot of people on a moral high horse.”
The confusion snowballed when the actual Andy Byron deleted his LinkedIn profile, directing even more attention toward the Dublin father. “It got so bad I had to turn off all my notifications,” he recalled.
Leaning into the absurdity, Andy updated his LinkedIn job title to read: “Not the guy from the Coldplay gig.” He even joked about the situation with his wife, “who I’m not cheating on,” he stressed, and added, “It made a good excuse to buy her flowers.”
Fortunately, the unexpected attention may have paid off. Andy’s managed to turn the mix-up into a clever marketing opportunity for his brand, possibly even recouping the cost of those flowers.
Dublin father Andy Byron sets the record straight in tongue-in-cheek LinkedIn post
Addressing the confusion with a sense of humour, Andy Byron took to LinkedIn to set the record straight. “No, this isn’t me. I wouldn’t be caught dead at a Coldplay concert,” he wrote. “I’m the Andy Byron who makes videos for big screens, not the one who gets caught on them. “If you want to make video content that goes viral for the right reasons, let’s connect [laughing emoji].”
His tongue-in-cheek post struck a chord online, racking up over 12,000 likes and reaching close to one million users on the platform. Andy revealed, “I had 580 connection requests, hundreds of messages and 250,000 profile views. ”
What started as a bizarre case of mistaken identity quickly turned into a marketing win. “It’s a coincidence that turned into great marketing for me,” he said. “One guy from the US with the same name goes viral and I get a load of followers for my business. It’s a once in a lifetime thing."
Despite the unexpected boost, Andy expressed sympathy for those actually involved in the viral clip. “If my engagements are like this, I can’t imagine what it must be like for them,” he said. “I’m sure him and the woman he’s with are going through hell. “If they had just played it off [the kiss cam], I’m sure they would have been fine. But I do have empathy for the families involved."
