CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Former lieutenant governor of Georgia Geoff Duncan (R) called upon Republicans and independents to "dump" former president and GOP nominee Donald Trump in the upcoming general election during his speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago on Wednesday, August 21.

The DNC provided a platform to Republicans, including former Trump aides, to speak out against their party nominee throughout the event.

The second day of the event saw Republican host of 'The View' Ana Navarro perform hosting duties, while ex-Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham tore into her former boss, stating that he "has no empathy, no morals, and no fidelity to the truth."

Duncan made a similar case during his time on stage, claiming that one does not have to be a Democrat to vote for Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in November, but simply be a patriot.

Geoff Duncan labels MAGA as a 'cult' following Donald Trump

Geoff Duncan began his speech by saying that he is a Republican, but is speaking at the DNC as an American "who cares more about the future of this country than the future of Donald Trump."

He called out the former president for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election, claiming that his actions should disqualify him from stepping foot into the Oval Office ever again.

"If Republicans are being intellectually honest with ourselves, our party is not civil or conservative. It's chaotic and crazy, and the only thing left to do is dump Trump," he stated as the audience erupted into applause and immediately turned "Dump Trump" into a chant.

"These days our party (GOP) acts more like a cult- a cult worshipping a felonious thug," continued Duncan.

"Look, you don't have to agree with every policy position of Kamala Harris, I don't. But you do have to recognize her prosecutor mindset that understands right from wrong, good from evil. She is a steady hand, and would bring leadership to the White House that Donald Trump could never do."

"Let me be clear to my Republican friends at home watching (the DNC), if you vote for Kamala Harris in 2024, you are not a Democrat. You are a patriot," he added, leading the enthusiastic crowd to cheer, "USA! USA!"

Internet hails Geoff Duncan

Netizens took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Geoff Duncan for his courage to speak out against the former president Donald Trump and his supporters.

"Geoff brought the roof down. The courage it takes to step out against the cultists is admirable for sure," wrote one social media user.

"Those people in the MAGA cult are not Republicans, they are cult members and it's time we take our country back from them!" stated another.

"It’s nice that people who have a voice are finally starting to use it and say stuff like this out loud," shared one individual.

"Calling a spade a spade. Thank you, Mr. Duncan!!" exclaimed another.

"Very patriotic and very brave," commented one person.
