NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-host Ana Navarro took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce hosting the second day of the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

A known Republican, Navarro becoming a host of the DNC has undoubtedly turned heads, even though she has long been a vocal supporter of incumbent Joe Biden's administration and a staunch critic of former president Donald Trump. The other hosts for the event are Tony Goldwyn, Kerry Washington, and Mindy Kaling. The DNC is set to be held from August 19-22 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Ana Navarro announces becoming DNC host

"I am so happy I can finally share this news- I am going to be the host of Night 2 of the DNC," Navarro stated in a video message over social media.

"Every night the DNC is going to have a different host. Night 1 when Joe Biden speaks it will be Tony Goldwyn, Night 2 when Doug Emhoff and the Obamas speak, it'll be me. Night 3 when Tim Walz, the VP nominee speaks, it'll be Mindy Kaling. Night 4 when Kamala Harris accepts the nomination, it'll be Kerry Washington," she explained the schedule.

"And I can't tell you how much this means to me," continued the political commentator. "Look, I am a little refugee girl who fled communism, who fled Nicaragua at the age of 8, found freedom, found opportunity, found a home in America. And for me to have the chance to stand on that stage and help my girl Kamala make history and become the Democratic nominee, is just such a mind-blowing moment."

"I hope you will be part of this celebration of democracy. I hope you will tune in. I hope you will join in the excitement. I am going to Chicago..." she added.

Conservatives troll Ana Navarro following her announcement

Ana Navarro earned strong backlash from Republicans on X after sharing her announcement. In line with the GOP accusing the Democratic Party of moving far-left on the political spectrum, MAGA supporters remarked on the irony of Navarro hosting their event after she admitted fleeing communism in her childhood. The following tweets demonstrate their prevalent takes.

"Your ancestors are turning in their graves right now watching you supporting communism," wrote a user.

"The irony. I fled communism 😃🤡🌎" commented another.

"Ana Navarro is a Democrat," slammed a third, adding, "Kamala Harris, Nicolas Maduro, and Castro from Cuba all share the same ideas and policies."

"How are you the 'Republican' on the View hosting the DNC, you can't make this stuff up🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾" stated a fifth.

"You fled communism yet you wanna vote for communism? You make me sick," jibed a fifth.

"Seriously dragging the bottom of the 'celebrity' barrel," jibed a sixth.

"Are you gonna come out as a Democrat now?" inquired yet another.
