LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kerry Washington has reportedly shared her opinion over Donald Trump’s presidential run despite being a convicted felon.

The 45th President was found guilty in the hush money trial in Manhattan on May 30. However, he is still the GOP presidential candidate, who will face President Joe Biden in the November election.

Kerry Washington thinks Trump shouldn’t run for the White House

“Everything has changed in terms of how I feel about the so-called justice system,” the 47-year-old actress told Bustle when asked about the ex-president.

She stated, “We’re in such an interesting moment when it comes to [the question of], ‘What is a felon?’ I love what people have been sharing on social media, [saying that] if a person who is a convicted felon can still run for president, then we should be removing that box from job applications.”

Kerry Washington believes that ex-felons should be allowed to vote

Kerry Washington also mentioned how Governor Ron DeSantis has been taking steps to ban “formerly incarcerated folks from voting."

“A bill was passed in Florida to allow formerly incarcerated folks to vote, and DeSantis has been trying to do everything he can to [undercut] that. Donald Trump may not be able to vote in his home state,” she added.

Expanding on her thoughts, Washington asserted, "Being a felon has become just another box that we put people in, to assume who they are and what they’re capable of, in the same way, we do with gender or race, or that I can do with astrology."

Netizens agree with Kerry Washington calling her ‘absolutely right'

Meanwhile, a person on X supporting Washington tweeted, “100% agree. same thing with voting. if a convicted felon can run for president, why can’t they vote?”

Another person wrote, “I meaaaaaaan, she’s kinda has a point.” [sic]

One more shared, “And she is absolutely right.”

“I think it's good to see public figures talking about the justice system and its flaws,” another user stated.

A tweet read, “And she’s correct. Especially when convicted felons can’t vote but yall finna let one run the country? Make it make more sense please.”

Another tweet was “No lies, background check is all you need to deny. Plus he’s just applying for the job anyway much like they are. Can still be rejected.”

An X user added, “I literally been saying this for like the last 6 months lol. If he can be president - then why the hell can’t ppl get a job at Amazon.”
