LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mary Trump, the niece of the former president and host of 'The Mary Trump Show' podcast, has voiced her discontent with MSNBC's decision to remove progressive host Mehdi Hasan from the network, stating that the network is "elevating the wrong people."

In a recent live Q&A session exclusively available to subscribers of her newsletter, 'The Good In Us', Mary Trump responded to a question from a reader named Peter, which included inquiries about Hasan's departure and criticism of Donald Trump. The reader expressed concerns, asking, "Why has Donald been allowed to get away with so much for so long? He’s a pseudo-celebrity, an idiot."

Mary Trump responds to Hasan's removal

Mary Trump responded, "No offense, dude, no offense. No offense taken. Unless you’re suggesting that I too am an idiot, but. I mean, we’re just related, technically. You know, I don’t really, I, I think I was found under a rock. That’s my theory."

Expressing bewilderment about Hasan's removal, Mary Trump continued, "I don’t understand what’s happening at MSNBC right now, honestly. They’re elevating the wrong people. They’re firing the wrong people." She emphasized Hasan's positive contributions, saying, "Mehdi’s, not only were his ratings excellent, I think he had the best ratings, on any of the weekend shows across channels."

Mary Trump continued to praise Hasan's interviewing skills and his ability to attract diverse guests to his show, noting, "But he’s one of the best interviewers out there. And, oddly, he was able to get people on your show who you wouldn’t normally think would be on a show like that."

Mary Trump says Hasan 'speaks truth to power'

Expressing regret over Hasan's departure, Mary Trump stated, "Yeah. It’s unfortunate. And he’s missed I hope, I hope. I mean, he’ll land on his feet. I’m not worried about that at all. But, you know, we need voices like his. Whether you agree with him or don’t agree with him."

Concluding her thoughts, Mary Trump highlighted the importance of individuals excelling in their roles, saying, "I mean, you could say this. If anybody who’s good at their job, that’s okay. He’s - he gets answers from people in power and he speaks truth to power. So we need more of that."

The departure of Mehdi Hasan from MSNBC has raised questions about the network's decision-making and the representation of diverse voices in media.
