BASTROP, TEXAS: Elon Musk ramped up his attacks against President Donald Trump’s signature spending bill with a barrage of posts on X slamming the mega bill, saying in one that no one "should be able to stomach it.”

Since his departure from the Department of Government Efficiency, the billionaire Tesla CEO has grown critical of the legislation, which Trump calls his “big, beautiful bill”, claiming that if passed, it would increase the US budget deficit by $5 trillion, according to ABC News.

Musk’s blistering attacks against the mega bill mark an escalation of the biggest rift yet between the Tech mogul and Trump, who has called the bill “arguably the most significant piece of Legislation that will ever be signed in the History of our Country.”

The mega bill, which was passed in the House by a vote of 215-214 on May 26, would extend Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, boost defense and border security spending, and implement new requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, among other things.

Elon Musk urges voters to ‘kill the bill’

The SpaceX founder took to his X on Wednesday, June 4, to send out a missive to his 220 million followers, urging them to contact their members of Congress and express their displeasure at the mega bill.

“Call your Senator, Call your Congressman, Bankrupting America is NOT ok! KILL the BILL,” he wrote in one post.

To further emphasize the point, he posted a picture of the famous poster for Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Kill Bill’, starring Uma Thurman as samurai-trained killer “The Bride".

Musk called the legislation ‘the Debt Slavery Bill’ in another post, writing, "This spending bill contains the largest increase in the debt ceiling in US history! It is the Debt Slavery Bill."

“A new spending bill should be drafted that doesn’t massively grow the deficit and increase the debt ceiling by 5 TRILLION DOLLARS,” he suggested in one more post.

Musk’s barrage of fuming posts against the bill came just a day after he slammed it as a “massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.”

Reflecting on Musk’s attacks, speaker Mike Johnson told reporters Wednesday morning that the billionaire was "flat wrong" about his criticisms of the spending bill, adding he tried to call the tech mogul, but he didn’t answer.

Musk responded to Johnson's remark in a video post on X, saying, "We need a new bill that doesn't grow the deficit."

He then replied to another video of Johnson, writing: "No one who actually reads the bill should be able to stomach it."

Donald Trump disappointed with Elon Musk

Although Musk's opposition to the plan was previously evident, his public criticism has come as a surprise to the White House, a source told CNBC.

The insider also tipped that Trump is more disappointed than frustrated with Musk, but that the president is still committed to seeing the law through to completion.

Notably, another tipster has claimed that Musk, who has indicated he is focusing on his rocket and electric vehicle businesses, was moved to speak out against the plan in part because it eliminates an EV tax credit that benefits Tesla.

Trump, who praised Musk during his send-off at the White House last Friday, has not publicly weighed in on Musk’s open hostility toward the bill.
