WASHINGTON, DC: In a blistering critique, Elon Musk has branded President Donald Trump’s 'Big Beautiful Bill' a "disgusting abomination," marking his first public clash with the administration since his abrupt departure last week.

The controversial ‘Big, Beautiful’ budget bill, which cleared the House of Representatives last month, offers trillions in tax breaks, boosts defense spending, and greenlights increased government borrowing.

Musk, who led a cost-cutting task force known as DOGE for 129 days, had earlier described the plan as merely "disappointing"; however, his latest remarks signal a dramatic escalation in tone.

Elon Musk dubs Donald Trump's funding bill a 'disgusting abomination'

Elon Musk took to X on Tuesday, June 3, to deliver a scathing rebuke of President Donald Trump’s recently passed funding bill.

Opening his post with a note of frustration, “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore”, Musk unleashed a harsh critique, calling the legislation a “massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.” He didn’t hold back in his condemnation, adding, “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it," as per BBC.

According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the bill is expected to increase the national debt by approximately $3.8 trillion over the next decade, bringing it to a staggering $36.2 trillion.

Musk also shared a tweet, "It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden America citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt."

Elon Musk intensified his criticism of the Republican Party on Tuesday, June 3, blasting lawmakers for pushing President Donald Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful’ budget bill.

In a series of fiery posts on X, Musk urged voters to “fire” every politician who supported the legislation, which he views as a betrayal of public trust.

Responding to a viral post slamming the GOP for alleged hypocrisy and wasteful spending, including luxury hotel stays in Ukraine and a lack of budget cuts, Musk echoed the outrage, writing: “In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.”

The viral post accused Republicans of prioritizing vacations and neglecting promised reforms, asking, “Ok let me just get this straight… the GOP are out there: 1. spending millions on luxury hotels in Ukraine. 2. not voting on any DOGE cuts, 3. spending 60% of their time on vacation, 4. not codifying executive orders. Is this the “major reform” the American people voted for?” Musk’s response underscored his growing frustration with the party’s leadership and spending priorities.

How did Karoline Leavitt react to Elon Musk's comments on Donald Trump's spending bill?

The White House, through Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, reaffirmed President Trump’s unwavering support for the controversial spending bill, despite Elon Musk’s sharp criticism.

When Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy asked how Trump would respond to Musk’s opposition, Leavitt dismissed any surprise, saying, “The President already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill.”

She went on to defend the legislation, calling it “one big, beautiful bill,” and emphasized that “he’s sticking to it.” Leavitt made it clear that Trump remains firmly committed to the bill and its provisions.

What could be the reason behind Elon Musk's sudden shift in stance toward Donald Trump?

Elon Musk’s abrupt shift in stance toward President Donald Trump, particularly his opposition to the 'One Big Beautiful Bill', appears driven by concerns over fiscal responsibility and conflicting policy priorities.

As the former head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk was charged with cutting wasteful government spending. He now contends that the bill’s measures—such as extending tax cuts, boosting defense budgets, and increasing the debt ceiling—directly contradict DOGE’s mission and further inflate the national deficit, as per ABC News.

Musk's criticism marks a notable turning point in his relationship with Trump and underscores a widening rift within the Republican Party over fiscal policy and governance. His pointed remarks on social media came just days after stepping down from his role at DOGE on May 30, 2025. Despite his departure, Musk has expressed hope that the department’s work will continue to shape federal operations.

Internet slams Elon Musk for expressing disagreement with Donald Trump’s bill

Elon Musk’s June 3 tweet criticizing Donald Trump’s bill quickly went viral, drawing over 66.9 million views and 37,000 comments, and sparking a wave of debate across social media.

One user wrote, "Trump LITERALLY met with congressional conservatives to demand they pass this bill. You donated to his campaign. You did this."

Another questioned, "Why are you stirring pots like this? Which side are you on? Pick one. We are confused who to follow."

An X user tweeted, "LOLLLLL, Elon is drowning in his own failures."

A commenter shared, "Honestly, after you were the reason he was elected, I seriously thought he would be slightly more deferential/respectful to you. No loyalty bc he doesn't need you anymore. You failed to think ahead and you have no leverage now."

A user shared, "There is no reason for you not to speak up. You haven't held back before and it's been good for the country so don't start holding back now."

A speaker questioned, "You guys couldn't make it work as friends after the break-up, huh?"

Another user asked, "But wait, you actually created this monster yourself! Didn't you support him? Didn't you work for him?"
