WASHINGTON, DC: Elon Musk once again floated the idea of launching a new political party to challenge the two-party system after reigniting his feud with President Donald Trump.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, July 4, the Tesla CEO tweeted, “Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Should we create the America Party?”

The former top adviser’s post included a poll asking followers to choose either yes or no.

In another X post, Elon Musk explained that “one way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts.”

“Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people,” the 54-year-old added.

Musk’s posts followed renewed attacks on Trump’s "One Big Beautiful Bill."

After the spending bill's passage, the Tesla CEO indirectly called it out by supporting Kentucky Senator Rand Paul's tweet that read, “The Big Not-So-Beautiful Bill has officially passed both chambers. Despite a few conservative provisions, it explodes the deficit in the near term. This is Washington's MO: short-term politicking over long-term sustainability.”

Netizens were quick to share their thoughts on Elon Musk’s proposal of launching a third party.

One X user said, “Interesting then why he would want this. We already have an Independent party. I’m not in support of it,” while another said, “A third party will do nothing but give whichever party you do not fracture a super majority. We do not need a new party, we need to fix the ones we have.”

A person remarked, “No — focus on growing GDP. As you said yourself, it’s the only real way out. Forget the politics,” whereas someone else expressed, “No, we need to fix the one we have. Third parties don’t work. Please review your history of American third parties and elections.”

“I would likely support this depending on the policy initiatives,” an individual shared.

“Love you, Elon, but third parties only pull from the Conservatives. We need to change the GOP into a truly Conservative party, not create a new one,” another tweet read.

“Elon, agree with you completely on the need to cut the deficit and take financial responsibility more seriously! But we need to make choices - and President Trump is a million times better than the Warmonger and Anti-free speech Dems. Your initial Pro-Trump decision was right!” one more stated.
