WASHINGTON, DC: Elon Musk has floated the idea of starting his own third political party as his dramatic fallout with Donald Trump took an ugly turn, with the former allies taking digs at each other.

The bromance between the US President and the Tesla CEO flared up on Thursday, June 05, after Musk called for Trump to be impeached.

The clash broke out after Musk raged over Trump’s 'Big, Beautiful Bill' following his departure from the white house and his signature Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Elon Musk floats the idea of starting a ‘third party’

Elon Musk first came out in Donald Trump’s support on the heels of last year’s presidential election and donated more than $288 million to the MAGA cause.

However, as his feud with the President reaches a boiling point, the tech billionaire has hinted at starting his own political party.

“Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle,” Musk wrote in a post on social platform X to his more than 200 million followers.

He also attached a survey to his post that allowed users to vote “yes” or “no” on the idea of a third political party. At the time of writing, about 80% of votes had been cast for 'yes' and 20% for 'no', according to the Irish Star.

Internet divided over Elon Musk’s ‘third party’ plan

Elon Musk’s idea to start a third political party on the internet, with one user saying, “We need to get rid of the Republican party and create a MAGA party.”

“Set it up. I'll write all the political speeches and strategy, it would crush both Democrats and Republicans in one shot. Everyone is so f'n sick of them,” a second user voiced their support.

“The US needs a multi-party political system,” a third user wrote. However, many users came out to trash Musk’s suggestion.

“No, we want Trump to impose a 1000% tariff on Tesla and X,” one user slammed Musk.

“Trump is the new MAGA party. We definitely do not need a third party,” another user commented.

“Be part of the solution, not another Problem… you should be ashamed of your behaviour!!! Stop the division and be a solution!!!! Disappointed in you!!!” a person wrote.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s bromance turns ugly

What started as a whirlwind romance between Musk and Trump took an ugly turn after the tech mogul bashed his signature spending bill and unleashed personal insults at the president.

He even urged to impeach Trump and claimed he would not have won the election without him.

“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,” the Tesla boss wrote, adding, “Such ingratitude”.

Musk made another bombshell claim as he alleged that Trump has not made the Jeffrey Epstein files public because he is on it.

“Time to drop the really big bomb:@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” he said on X.

Meanwhile, Trump on Thursday acknowledged his rift with Musk for the first time, saying, “Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore.”

He also suggested that Musk's multibillion-dollar government contracts should be ripped away.

'The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,' Trump said on Truth Social.
