WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump has shocked the Internet with the announcement that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will co-lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in his second administration.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 12, the President-elect said, "Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies - Essential to the 'Save America' Movement," as per CNN

Donald Trump continued, "I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans."

The MAGA spearhead also compared the new department to the Manhattan Project, which was launched during World War II to produce the first atomic bomb.

Trump mentioned, "It will become, potentially, ‘The Manhattan Project’ of our time. Republican politicians have dreamed about the objectives of ‘DOGE’ for a very long time," as he proclaimed that Musk and Ramaswamy "will work together to liberate our Economy, and make the U.S. Government accountable to 'WE THE PEOPLE.'"

Trump's statement quoted Musk as saying that DOGE "will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!"

Ramaswamy and Musk will work together to accomplish their mission by July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The Tesla CEO first suggested Trump form a government efficiency commission and appoint him to it during his X (formerly Twitter) interview with the former president in August.

DOGE is also said to be Musk's favorite meme and cryptocurrency. The Shiba Inu-themed cryptocurrency skyrocketed to its highest value in more than three years after Trump's announcement.

The tech billionaire accepted his role with a post on X, proclaiming, "All actions of the Department of Government Efficiency will be posted online for maximum transparency. Anytime the public thinks we are cutting something important or not cutting something wasteful, just let us know!"

He added, "We will also have a leaderboard for most insanely dumb spending of your tax dollars. This will be both extremely tragic and extremely entertaining."

Internet calls Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy 'unqualified'

Netizens didn't seem happy with the appointments.

One wrote, "Calling it D.O.G.E. is such an idiocracy moment for a weird billionaire buying himself the government," and another said, "This country is doomed and I’m so serious."

"AMERICA IS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED ? TWO UNQUALIFIED PEOPLE RUNNING SHT?" fumed a person. Someone else noted, "The world is doomed."

An individual wondered, "So he’s gonna be in charge of the exact corporation that’s supposed to keep all of his business in check…. Yea that’s a great idea."

"Billionaire crooks working for a billionaire crook, to curry favour and avoid future prosecution. While deregulating their own businesses. Billionaires don't work for us!" stated one more.

Another person quipped, "A dude who spent 40 billion dollars on a site that is now worth barely 15 will lead the department of efficiency," referring to Musk's $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.

"And there you have it, that’s why the mole man has been pushing so hard for Trump to win, yet liberals are the ones with the agendas and conspiracy theories 😂," claimed a naysayer.
