Emma Roberts’ five-year-old son Rhodes walks her down aisle as father Eric misses wedding
SUN VALLEY, IDAHO: Emma Roberts has opened up about her wedding to Cody John after the couple tied the knot during an outdoor ceremony at a family residence in Sun Valley, Idaho, on Saturday, July 25.
The actress shared details about the celebration with Vogue, including the emotional moment when her five-year-old son, Rhodes, walked her down the aisle. The wedding also drew attention after her father, Eric Roberts, confirmed he was not in attendance.

Emma Roberts opened up about one of the most memorable moments from her wedding, revealing that Rhodes, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Garrett Hedlund, walked her down the aisle instead of her father. Reflecting on a black-and-white photograph of the moment in Vogue, the actress said, "A picture is worth a thousand words – and in this case, a million."
Earlier in the week, Eric Roberts confirmed to the Daily Mail that he did not attend the wedding. Without explaining the reason for his absence, the 70-year-old actor said, "I love my daughter, always have, always will. It is perfectly wonderful for her to celebrate however she wants, with whomever she wants."
It remains unclear whether Emma Roberts invited her father to the ceremony. Eric Roberts had previously addressed speculation about their relationship, saying they are not estranged and that their bond "is only complicated through outside eyes… because they don't get any of it."
"So they have their own take, whatever that is," he said during an appearance on 'Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson' in late March.
Eric and Kelly Cunningham welcomed Emma in February 1991 before separating seven months later.
Despite Eric's absence, Emma's aunt Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder attended the wedding. Other well-known guests featured in the Vogue coverage included Kristen Stewart, Sarah Paulson and Demi Moore.

Emma and Cody John exchanged vows outdoors at the actor's family estate in Idaho. She wore a custom white Monique Lhuillier gown with asymmetrical sleeves, paired with a sheer shawl and a long white veil. She later changed into an archival after-party dress by the designer, while John wore a brown suit for the ceremony.
Speaking to Vogue about designing her wedding dress, Emma said, "I didn't really know what I wanted. I just knew that I wanted it to feel very vintage-inspired. I'm obsessed with antique books and treasure hunting, and I love collecting old ephemera, so I really wanted that to shine through in the dress."
The couple announced their engagement in July 2024 with an Instagram post showing off Emma's diamond ring. "Putting this here before my mom tells everyone," she wrote, referencing her mother Kelly Cunningham.
Emma Roberts and Cody John first went public with their relationship in August 2022 after John shared a photo of them kissing on Instagram with the caption, "Sweet sweet." She later made their relationship Instagram official in December 2022 by posting a photo of them holding hands alongside the caption, "#2022 I loved you happy new year hotties!"
Before their wedding, Emma spoke to People in July 2024 about watching 'The Iron Claw' with Cody, saying, "I watched the movie The Iron Claw with my boyfriend, and the two of us were sobbing. It was just a disaster of crying and then laughing at each other for crying, which made us cry even harder."
