Eric Adams compares himself to upright Biblical character, Internet says 'you sold your soul long ago'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Democratic NYC Mayor Eric Adams was strongly rebuked online for reportedly comparing himself to the Biblical character, Job, on Sunday, September 8, while visiting two churches in Brooklyn.
Adams visited the Power and Authority Evangelical Ministry on Sheffield Avenue first, followed by a visit to the Changing Lives Christian Center on Linden Boulevard, the New York Post reported. He spoke at both churches about the 'Book of Job', which he claimed was his favorite story.
At a time when federal agents are probing into his administration and targeting some of his top lieutenants, Adams asked a bishop to even pray for him.
Federal investigators seized phones from multiple officials in Adam's administration on Wednesday, September 4, though none have been charged with any crime, according to NBC4.
I spent this morning with the congregations at Power and Authority Evangelical Ministry and Changing Lives Christian Center in Brooklyn.

Addressing those gathered at the Power and Authority Church, Adams claimed, "I had many Job moments in my life." He compared the biblical story to his own struggles with learning disabilities, dyslexia, and diabetes, saying, "These are Job moments. When your faith becomes stronger."
The character of Job in the Bible has been relayed as a righteous and upright man who went through severe trials and afflictions.
“This is where I get my strength from,” the mayor later told reporters. “This is the source of my energy.” When asked if he felt the federal probe against his officers, including police commissioner Edward Caban, felt like persecution, Adams replied, "If that’s all you got out of that sermon, you’re missing it. We all go through things.”
Job, a central figure in the biblical 'Book of Job', despite facing immense suffering—losing his wealth, children, and health— is shown to remain steadfast in his belief in God even though he is constantly wrestling with questions about divine justice.
Known for his patience, Job maintains his integrity, expressing his grief and confusion honestly without ever cursing his maker.
Adams walked to his car and shook hands with Power and Authority Bishop Rotimi Onabanjo, requesting, "Pray — pray for them all. Pray for me.”
Eric Adams slammed for comparing himself to Job
Reacting to the news on X (formerly Twitter), social media users slammed Eric Adam and called him "narcissistic" for comparing himself to Job.
"What a narcissistic jerk," wrote one X user.
"Arrogant insufferable fool," stated another.
"He’s disgusting," commented one person.
"Well you sold your soul a long time ago," added another.
"Eric Adams comparing himself to Job is cute, but last I checked, Job didn’t throw parties while the city's rent was biblical. Maybe instead of prayers, we need some miracle-level leadership," read one tweet.

"Job was humble and devout. Adams, not so much," added another.
