CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Eric Adams was mocked online after he made a major mistake at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

The Mayor of New York City attended the convention on Wednesday, August 21, but not as a speaker, as reported by The New York Post.

Eric Adams talked about his ‘ability to sexualize’

While attempting to answer a question from a journalist about the federal corruption probe against him, Eric Adams replied, “One of the gifts that I have that really made me good at being a mayor is my ability to sexualize and stay focused.”

However, it’s not clear what the politician exactly wanted to say, whether he meant “actualize” or “centralize.”

Eric Adams faces corruption investigation

Eric Adams has been embroiled in a corruption investigation centering around his campaign financing and whether he received free upgrades on Turkish Airlines.

In April, his lawyer Brendan McGuire told ABC News, “As Borough President, the Mayor consistently disclosed his official travel to Turkey, did not receive any improper upgrades and did nothing inappropriate in exchange for an upgrade. Speculation is not evidence. We look forward to a just and timely conclusion to this investigation.”

Apart from this, the 63-year-old former police officer was reportedly snubbed by the DNC because of his criticism of the administration on the migrant crisis and not invited to speak from the convention stage.

Hank Sheinkopf, a Democratic political consultant, shared, as per The Post, “This is a snub. This is a slap in the face. This is punishment for Adams criticizing the administration on the migrant crisis. It’s not just bad for him. It’s bad planning by the party.”

“Socialist AOC and Gov Hochul got speaking slots. Not the spokesman for urban America,” Sheinkopf added referring to Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Governor Kathy Hochul who were given speaking slots at the DNC.

Netizens call Eric Adams ‘dumbest’

Meanwhile, Several internet users have shared their views online over Eric Adams’ latest gaffe.

“Why these old guys are so desperate??” an X user asked.

Another user wrote, “Alllllways the preoccupation with sex party lol,” seemingly referring to a sexual assault accusation against him.

Earlier this year, Adams was sued by an ex-NYPD aide who alleged that he wanted sexual favors in exchange for helping her as they worked for the Transit Bureau.

“He or AOC are the dumbest people I ever heard talk! This guy is such a 🤡🤡🤡,” one mentioned.

A reader below The Post article commented, “Neither centralize or actualize really fit the bill. Congratulations on another brilliant voting decision, NYC!”

Another reader said, “Whatever happened to his former coworker suing him for sexual assault? He may have entered into a hush money deal.”

Someone else noted, “Mayor Night Life said exactly what he meant to say. It was a message to the ladies!”

One individual added, “Adams was never touted to be a rocket scientist! But he has been a complete failure as mayor of NYC!”
