Eric Schmitt says ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ has metastasized as he slams Dems after WHCD attack
WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Eric Schmitt has blasted Democrats while appearing to blame them for the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting on Saturday, April 25.
He even claimed that Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) “has metastasized, and it is the central focal point of everything that the Democrats obsess on in this town. It’s really bizarre.”
Eric Schmitt claims Dems won't 'condemn political violence'
Schmitt further accused Democrats of instigating a toxic political climate. “This isn’t a both sides thing. We should condemn political violence. But the Democrats … won’t do it,” he claimed.
The 50-year-old lawmaker also added that “this is like what used to be kind of a fringe point of view on all this has now entered the mainstream for Democrats. They’re obsessed with President Trump. They don’t have any ideas.”
Schmitt says suspect's manifesto 'sounds like a normal segment on MSNBC'
Schmitt then went on to mention the manifesto of the alleged shooter, Cole Tomas Allen.
He asserted, “If you read that manifesto, it sounds like what you would hear on a normal segment on MSNBC. They've got a problem, and it’s time they deal with it.”
Trump blamed 'hate speech of the Democrats' for WHCD attack
Schmitt’s remarks came after President Donald Trump also appeared to blame Democrats for the weekend attack.
While sitting down with CBS correspondent Norah O’Donnell on Sunday, he stated, “Well, you know, you go back 20 years, 40 years, 100 years, 200 years, 500 years, it's always been there. People are assassinated. People are injured. People are hurt. And I'm not sure that it's any more now than there was.”
“I do think that the hate speech of the Democrats, much more so, is very dangerous. I really think it's very dangerous for the country,” he added.
Suspect made fun of WHCD security
As per reports, the suspect in his manifesto had written that “administration officials (not including Mr. Patel): they are targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest. I experience rage thinking about everything this administration has done.”
Allen had also mocked the security of Trump by noting, “I expected security cameras at every bend, bugged hotel rooms, armed agents every ten feet, metal detectors out the wazoo. What I got is nothing. Like, this level of incompetence is insane.”
But Trump fired back at him. He told O’Donnell, “He got caught pretty easily. So I'd say he was pretty incompetent, too. You know, I can take any event having to do with security or anything else. I-- I can always find fault. Those guys did a good job last night. They did a really good job.”
