Eric Trump teases 2028 presidential run, calls politics an easy path: ‘I think I could do it’

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Eric Trump, the 41-year-old middle son of President Donald Trump, may be eyeing a run for the White House.
In a candid interview with the Financial Times, Eric said he believes running for president wouldn’t be particularly difficult for him. “I think the political path would be an easy one, meaning, I think I could do it,” he said.

But before anyone breaks out the campaign buttons, he made it clear he wasn't sure he wanted his family to go through the wringer again. “The real question is: ‘Do you want to drag other members of your family into it? Would I want my kids to live the same experience over the last decade that I’ve lived?’”
He added bluntly, “You know, if the answer was yes, I think the political path would be an easy one, meaning I think I could do it. And by the way, I think other members of our family could do it too.”
Eric Trump distances himself from DC politics but says he could run 'very effectively'
Unlike his older siblings, Donald Trump Jr, a regular fixture at MAGA fundraisers, and Ivanka Trump, who served in the Trump White House, Eric Trump has largely stayed out of DC politics. Instead, he has remained focused on the Trump Organization, helping steer the family’s business empire. But that’s not to say he hasn’t been paying attention.
“I’m wholly unimpressed by half the politicians I see. I could do it very effectively,” Eric said.
With big-name Republicans like Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio already being floated as potential frontrunners for 2028, the question remains: will the Trump dynasty actually bow out after 2024? Eric wouldn’t commit either way. “I don’t know. Time will tell. But there’s more people than just me,” he teased.
Still, he hasn’t fully convinced himself it’s worth the emotional cost. “Do you want to subject the people that you love to the brutality of this system? And I’m not sure if I can answer that question yet,” he admitted.

Even though Eric hasn’t been front and center like his siblings, he hasn’t exactly stayed silent either. He has traveled the country making campaign speeches and rallying support for his father, and his wife, Lara Trump, who previously served as co-chair of the Republican National Committee.
It’s also worth noting that all three of Trump’s eldest children are eligible to run for president. At 41, Eric is well past the minimum required age of 35, meaning the 2028 election could be anyone’s game within the Trump family.
Eric Trump claims his family hasn't profited off politics
Eric Trump pushed back against a common criticism from the left — that the Trump family has used politics to enrich themselves.
“If there’s one family that hasn’t profited off politics, it’s the Trump family,” he declared.
According to him, politics has been more of a financial burden than a benefit. He claims the family has spent nearly $500 million fighting legal battles over what he called “Russia shams, fake hoaxes, dirty dossiers about the unthinkable.”

Still, the family is far from broke.
President Trump’s stake in Trump Media & Technology Group is now reportedly worth around $2 billion. Just last year, he brought in $630 million from a mix of cryptocurrency ventures, real estate branding, and even quirky merchandise like Trump watches, Bibles, and smartphones.
Eric also told the Daily Boulder that the Trump Organization itself is currently valued between $8 billion and $12 billion.
