Speaking to Fox News host Jesse Watters, she revealed that hospital officers urged her not to see Charlie Kirk’s body immediately.
An officer gently told her, “You don’t want to see him like this,” and suggested she wait until visiting the mortuary. Erika Kirk responded that she wanted to see “what they did to my husband.”

Emotional but composed, Erika Kirk described the scene at the hospital. She said an officer approached her and told her, “I’ve been doing this for 30-some years. I will never tell you that you cannot see your husband. In my professional opinion, I think you should wait until he’s at the mortuary. Because I don’t think you want to see him like this.”
Erika Kirk replied, “With all due respect, sir, I want to see what they did to my husband. And I want to kiss him because I did not get to give him a kiss this morning.”
She also recounted what she was told about Charlie Kirk’s final moments. “The way the bullet hit him, he died instantaneously,” she said. “He died on the scene. But I’m so glad he didn’t suffer. No one deserves to suffer except maybe a handful of people."
Erika Kirk added that she had once asked her husband if he had considered wearing a vest during campus events. She said he would nod and respond, “You know, I’ve looked into it,” but always added, “If they’re going to get me, they’re going to get me.” She said he wasn’t afraid and that a vest wouldn’t have changed anything.
