WASHINGTON, DC: On Thursday, January 22, former special counsel Jack Smith gave his first public testimony on his investigations into President Donald Trump before the House Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill.

But it was rocked by an altercation between a former police officer and a far-right activist.

Ivan Raiklin reportedly clashed with former Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone during recess when the former went to shake Fanone's hand. But his gesture did not sit well with the former police officer, who began cursing him.

Michael Fanone alleged Ivan Raiklin had 'threatened his family'

Fanone apparently told Raiklin, “Go f**k yourself. You're a traitor to this f**king country.”

He also accused him of threatening “his family. Threatened my children,” before calling him, “Sick b***ard.”

The former cop then said to Raiklin, “F**king do something. Do something,” to which the latter replied, “Why do you have to lose your cool like that?”

Ranking member Jamie Raskin calls Ivan Raiklin 'deranged'

Former US Capitol Police officers Harry Dunn and Aquilino Gonell stepped in between Raiklin and Fanone to stop the fight.

Ranking member Rep Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland) also addressed the clash by telling Judiciary Chair Rep Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), “Mr. Chairman, please control the deranged observer Mr. Raiklin.”

Raiklin, whose X (formerly Twitter) bio suggests he supports far-right groups like Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, later took to social media to slam Democrats and Fanone.

“Notice how Fedsurrectionist Fagnone threatens a woman USCP Officer. The democrats clap like carnival barking penguins at his assault of USCP officer that keep her cool and demeanor the entire time while protecting members of ingress and the integrity of the hearing from this unstable unhinged Pelosi drinking buddy,” he wrote.

Jack Smith says Trump is 'most responsible person' in election denial conspiracy

Meanwhile, during his testimony, Smith once again reiterated that "evidence here made clear that President Trump was, by a large measure, the most culpable and most responsible person in this conspiracy," regarding the election interference case.

Also, about the January 6 Capitol attack, the former special counsel added, "The attack that happened at the Capitol, part of this case, does not happen without him. The other co-conspirators were doing this for his benefit."

In response, Trump fired at him on Truth Social, writing, “Deranged Jack Smith is being DECIMATED before Congress. It was over when they discussed his past failures and unfair prosecutions. He destroyed many lives under the guise of legitimacy.”

“Hopefully the Attorney General is looking at what he’s done, including some of the crooked and corrupt witnesses that he was attempting to use in his case against me,” he added.

Additionally, the president demanded Smith’s prosecution and claimed that he “destroyed the lives of many innocent people, which has been his history as a prosecutor. At a minimum, he committed large scale perjury!”
