According to a post shared on X, a group of Republican lawmakers is allegedly working with Democratic leaders to impeach President Trump before the 2026 midterm elections.
The post claimed that "a small but high-profile, powerful group of Trump-hating RINO House Republicans" is coordinating with House Democratic leadership, including Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, to prepare a pre-midterm impeachment effort against the president.
The post further alleged that the supposed "RINO revenge plot" is being led by Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie and former Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. It also named Representatives Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Nancy Mace of South Carolina, and Mike Flood of Nebraska as participants in the alleged effort.
According to the post, the lawmakers are attempting to persuade additional Republicans who are "on the fence" to join the effort in order to secure enough votes to impeach Trump with the support of House Democrats before the November elections.
The post concluded by claiming, "The disgruntled members of Congress are said to be OUT FOR BLOOD after President Trump publicly attacked them and in some cases backed primary challengers against them, which they viewed as damaging to their political careers and ambitions."
Fact Check: No active impeachment proceedings against Trump
As of June 2026, there is no active impeachment proceeding against President Trump in Congress. Although several impeachment resolutions have been introduced since the start of his second term, none have advanced to a House vote on articles of impeachment, and no Senate impeachment trial is underway.
Likewise, there is no evidence to support the viral claim that Representatives Thomas Massie, Lauren Boebert, Nancy Mace, Mike Flood, or former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene are coordinating with House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries to impeach Trump. No credible news reports, congressional records, or public statements from the lawmakers involved indicate that such a bipartisan effort exists.
Based on the available evidence, the allegation appears to be speculation rather than a documented congressional initiative.
Calls for Trump's impeachment resurfaced shortly after he returned to office in 2025. Several Democratic lawmakers, including Representative Al Green, introduced impeachment resolutions alleging abuses of presidential power and other constitutional violations. In May and June 2025, Green filed multiple impeachment measures, including one related to military actions that he argued were taken without congressional authorization.
The speculation surrounding impeachment grew as some progressive Democrats publicly argued that Trump's actions warranted impeachment. Advocacy groups also launched petitions urging Congress to take action, while social media users repeatedly circulated claims that impeachment proceedings were imminent.
However, despite these calls, no impeachment effort has gained significant traction in Congress.
