TEHRAN, IRAN: The 2026 US-Iran war started on February 28, 2026, when joint US and Israeli forces launched airstrikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure, air defenses, missile sites, and key leadership figures, including the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Following this, a rumor spread online claiming that Iranians are renaming streets after President Donald Trump for crushing the regime. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: Iranians rename streets after Trump for crushing regime

Several X users shared clips claiming that Iranians are renaming streets after Donald Trump for crushing the regime. An X user @GuntherEagleman shared a clip and wrote, "IRANIANS RENAMING STREETS AFTER TRUMP! The people of Iran are HONORING President Trump, naming streets after him because he KEPT HIS WORD and CRUSHED the regime! One Iranian shouts: 'TRUMP, He made a promise, and took action!'"

Similarly, another X user posted the same clip and mentioned, "INCREDIBLE: Iranians are now naming STREETS about President Trump, because he is a man of action!"

"Iranians are now naming streets after President Trump. 'TRUMP — He made a promise, and took action'. 'Trump, I love you, you’re a man of your word. Keep hitting them!'," wrote another X account.

Meanwhile, another X user wrote, "BOOM! Street in Iran renamed ‘Trump’—citizen: ‘Iranians love you for hitting the regime!’ Epic Fury winning hearts. Regime done!"

The POTUS has demanded Iran's unconditional surrender with no negotiations, warning of further escalation, while Iranian officials defiantly reject ceasefires and express readiness for even a ground invasion.

Fact Check: Mostly true, video shared is authentic

The claim made in the viral clip is mostly true, as the viral clip is authentic footage of Iranian civilians symbolically renaming a street after Trump as a gesture of support amid anti-regime sentiment.

However, a similar clip also went viral during the January 2026 economic protests, and the video itself, first widely shared around March 1, 2026, aligns with renewed expressions of gratitude following the US-Israeli strikes.

Notably, it is not an official renaming but only a grassroots act of defiance, which is common in Iranian protests. No evidence suggests it's staged or AI-generated, unlike a separate debunked video involving sign-wiping.

Moreover, the video also matches reports from Iran International and eyewitness accounts of protesters using stickers, paint, or signs to label streets 'Trump Street'. The location shows typical Tehran suburban features, consistent with verified protest sites.
