The claim has created excitement amongst fans, while others expressed scepticism. Let us fact-check the claim.

“Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are expecting their first child together,” a post on X mentioned, accompanied by a picture of the couple, which has garnered more than three million views as of this writing, along with thousands of likes and shares. 

Several people commented on the post, expressing excitement. “That will be the wokest baby ever!” one person remarked. Another added, “If this is true then i'm officially jealous, cuz honestly that should be me.”

Yet another person said, “From world tours to world politics… that’s one powerful family headline.”

Some even expressed scepticism about the post, wondering if it was indeed true. One person asked, “Is this true?” and another chipped in saying, “So this news is true?”

Fact Check: The claim is an unverified social media rumour

However, there are no credible news media reports or official announcements from either Perry's or Trudeau's camps about the two expecting a child together. 

A search on Google also does not produce any credible results supporting the claim. Thus, the claim is an unverified social media rumour. 

A fact check by Grok, the AI assistant of X, debunked the claim, stating, “No official confirmation from Katy Perry or Justin Trudeau about expecting a child. Recent tabloid reports from January 2026 suggest they're discussing it, but it's an unverified rumour at this point.”

The viral claim appears to come in the wake of a report stating, “Katy’s ready to go all in right now with him. They’re even talking about having a child together.”

The report added, “Justin is very clear that he wants to build a life with her and there’s no one he’d rather be with. When Katy first started seeing Justin, everyone assumed it would just be a rebound fling, but it’s much more than that. She says it feels like destiny that they met.”

However, no other publications independently confirmed the report.

The couple disclosed their relationship on Instagram on December 6, 2025. Rumours of a romance between Perry and Trudeau first surfaced in the summer when they were spotted on a date in Montreal, Canada.

Perry subtly included Trudeau on her social media by posting an Instagram clip backstage at a concert where she received a birthday cake. Fans noticed Trudeau clapping and smiling in the background as she blew out the candles.

The couple reportedly made their first public appearance together on October 25, attending a cabaret show at Crazy Horse Paris for Perry’s birthday, according to TMZ.
