Others said they were trying to find out whether the report was true, while another asked, “ANNIE POTTS?”
The confusion began after Potts shared a photo with Curry on her social media accounts. In the post, she remembered Curry as her best man, neighbor, and uncle to her sons.
She also recalled the things they taught each other and wrote that she was happy he was “released” into a beautiful garden, adding that she would miss him deeply.
"My darling Tim. My Best Man at my wedding. My neighbor. My boys’ Uncle. He taught me about friendship and cooking and design and gardens. I taught him how to fish. I am so happy that you are released now....into a most beautiful garden.... I will miss you beyond words."
Fact Check: The claim is false
The claim is false. Annie Potts is alive, and there is no credible report confirming her death.
Potts was born in Nashville but has lived in Los Angeles for many years. Her Wikipedia page also does not report her death.
The rumor appears to have confused Potts’ name with the news of Tim Curry’s death. One X user who looked into the claim wrote, “False alarm, y'all. Annie Potts is alive.”
The user suggested that the rumor may have spread because Potts and Curry were close friends and had worked together on several projects. Curry also served as the best man at Potts’ wedding.
Potts has faced health challenges in the past. At about 21, she suffered a serious accident that resulted in multiple surgeries over the years.
She has spoken openly about her recovery, saying, “It’s something like my 25th or 26th surgery; I’ve kind of lost count.” She also said she broke nearly every bone below her waist and has spent decades recovering from the injuries.
