WASHINGTON, DC: Amid the criticisms against the Trump administration over the war in Iran, a rumor is circulating on social media platforms claiming that Disney actress and former Trump aide Caroline Sunshine slammed the POTUS over a remark about the war. The claim sparked speculation, calling for a fact-check.

Claim: Caroline Sunshine slammed Trump's Iran war claim

The post has been shared widely and has garnered tens of thousands of views (@_InfoGram_/X)

The claim surfaced as a post on X, according to which the president said, “Iran has been at war with us for 47 years," to which Sunshine slammed him, stating, “Shut up. This is the first time I have heard of a 47-year war with Iran. And how many Americans has Iran killed on US soil? Its Zero.”

The post ends by praising the 31-year-old former actress by calling her brave, stating she single-handedly exposed Trump’s propaganda.

The post has been shared widely and has garnered tens of thousands of views as of this writing, with many appearing to believe it to be an authentic remark by the president and the actress. A few others expressed skepticism and called for a fact-check.

Fact Check: The claim intended as parody

Although Sunshine has criticised Trump over the war against Iran, there is no evidence of her making the exact statement mentioned in the post about Trump’s claim that Iran has been at war with the US for 47 years.

There are no publicly available transcripts, official statements, interviews, or social media posts from the actress reacting to Trump comment, which he made in March at the beginning of the war.

If Sunshine had really made such a statement, prominent news and entertainment media outlets would have widely reported it, making headlines. A search on Google for the claim also yielded no such news reports.

Moreover, the claim originated from an X account called ‘InfoGram’ which describes itself in the bio as ‘satire.’

Hence, the claim was intended as a parody made for the sake of engagement.

In March this year, Sunshine questioned why the president is attacking Iran.

“The administration going forward needs to be very clear with the American people about what its objectives and timelines are,” Sunshine said.

“Six months ago, the American people were told that we used B-2 ‘bunker buster’ bombs to completely obliterate and destroy Iran’s nuclear program, and anybody who said otherwise was fake news.”

“Now we have been told that somehow in six months, they were able to restart the program. Now we’re told we’ve completely destroyed it again,” she added.
