SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: In the weeks following conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s fatal shooting on September 10, a viral rumor spread across Facebook and Instagram claiming that his father, Robert W Kirk, had also died.

The post, shared by pages with names like 'Kitten Cuties,' alleged that the elder Kirk “never recovered from the pain” of losing his son and died in early October.

The earliest known instance of the rumor appeared on October 4 from a Facebook page called 'Kitten Cuties.'

The post featured three photos, including a supposed image of Robert Kirk “reuniting” with his son in heaven, and a dramatic caption that read, “Heartbreaking Loss Strikes Again in the Kirk Family - Robert W Kirk Dies After Never Recovering From the Pain of Losing His Son Charlie.”

Other similar posts circulated widely on Facebook and Instagram, each redirecting users to ad-heavy websites. These sites were accessed via redirect domains, a common tactic used by clickbait networks to evade link bans on social platforms.

These claims were accompanied by emotional, AI-generated images depicting a grieving woman (said to be Kirk’s wife or mother), Robert Kirk embracing Charlie in a heavenly background, and family portraits showing all four members.

Fact Check: False as no credible evidence supports the claim

Despite its viral reach, there is no evidence that Robert Kirk has died.

Searches across Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, and other search engines yielded no reports from any legitimate media outlets confirming the rumor.

The story originated from fake news networks managed outside of the United States, allegedly from Vietnam, North Macedonia, Pakistan, and the Philippines.

The AI-generated images used in the posts were also a red flag.

Visual inconsistencies, such as unnaturally smooth skin textures and unrealistic backgrounds, revealed that the photos were not genuine.

Turning Point USA, the organization founded by Charlie Kirk, has not issued any statement about Robert Kirk’s alleged death, and no public records corroborate the story.

The false reports about Robert Kirk’s death is part of a larger network of AI-generated disinformation surrounding Charlie Kirk’s shooting.

Similar posts in late September claimed that Robert Kirk was hospitalized or seen crying at his son’s gravesite, none of which corroborated by factual reports or authentic images.
